Position Overview
UT Health Behavioral Sciences Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Behavioral Health Technician to support patients and clinical staff in a behavioral health setting. The Behavioral Health Technician plays an important role in providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for individuals receiving mental health and behavioral health services.
The ideal candidate is patient-focused, professional, and committed to promoting positive outcomes while working collaboratively with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and observe patient behavior and activities.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
- Assist patients with daily living activities when appropriate.
- Document patient observations and report behavioral changes to clinical staff.
- Support treatment plans under the supervision of licensed professionals.
- Facilitate patient participation in therapeutic and recreational activities.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Conduct routine safety checks and environmental rounds.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Assist in crisis intervention situations as directed by clinical staff.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Promote patient dignity, respect, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Basic computer skills and documentation abilities.

Work Environment
