Position Overview

UT Health Behavioral Sciences Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Behavioral Health Technician to support patients and clinical staff in a behavioral health setting. The Behavioral Health Technician plays an important role in providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for individuals receiving mental health and behavioral health services.

The ideal candidate is patient-focused, professional, and committed to promoting positive outcomes while working collaboratively with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and observe patient behavior and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities when appropriate.
  • Document patient observations and report behavioral changes to clinical staff.
  • Support treatment plans under the supervision of licensed professionals.
  • Facilitate patient participation in therapeutic and recreational activities.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Conduct routine safety checks and environmental rounds.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
