OVERVIEW

The Digital Content Creator is responsible for producing engaging, accessible, and brand-consistent digital content-written, visual, and web-based-that supports a federal client's research communications and outreach across multiple platforms. The role blends writing, graphic design, and web/content production to develop publications, web pages, infographics, social graphics, e-newsletters, and templated assets that translate technical subject matter into compelling, audience-ready content.

To be successful as a Digital Content Creator at Hendall, you should be a versatile creator who can both write and design, with a strong sense of visual identity, accessibility, and the production discipline to deliver polished content on deadline. The role reports to the Project Manager.

DUTIES

  • Write, design, and produce digital content including web pages, infographics, social graphics, e-newsletters, fact sheets, brochures, one-pagers, presentations, and other collateral
  • Provide graphic design services that deliver a cohesive visual identity across products-publication layout, website graphics, infographics, social media graphics, posters, banners, flyers, presentations, and templated/collateral materials
  • Develop and maintain reusable, accessible templates for publications, web pages, slide decks, reports, and digital banners
  • Write and edit content for web pages-including text, images, and alternative text-following the client's communication reference guide, the GPO Style Manual, and the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Prepare and optimize graphics to meet web guidelines, applying appropriate resolution, sizing, and file types for print and digital use
  • Create and enhance graphs, charts, tables, illustrations, and other design treatments, including digital animation and illustration as requested
  • Build and update content via content management systems (e.g., Drupal), SharePoint, and Google Sites through a graphical user interface
  • Ensure all content complies with Section 508 accessibility standards, including color contrast and alternative text for nontext elements
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate licensing or written permissions for copyrighted material, and ensure accurate attributions and citations
  • Compose final deliverables by placing finished text and images into layouts, and revise layouts and copy as directed
  • Maintain version control and adhere to branding, style, and quality-control standards across all products
  • Coordinate content review and approvals with designated client contacts and, when necessary, external stakeholders

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, digital media, communications, marketing, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience creating digital content that combines writing and design
  • Demonstrated portfolio of graphic design, infographics, web content, and digital collateral
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite-InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Drupal), SharePoint, and/or Google Sites
  • Strong writing and editing skills with familiarity with major style manuals (GPO, Chicago)
  • Working knowledge of Section 508 / accessibility requirements for digital and web content
  • Understanding of web graphics optimization (resolution, file formats, sizing) for print and digital
  • Strong attention to detail, brand consistency, and visual storytelling
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
