Job description

Job Title: Laboratory Manager
Job Description

Lead and oversee daily laboratory operations and staff. Mentor and develop team members; ensure appropriate training and performance management. Manage quality assurance, quality control, and regulatory compliance, and prepare for inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee staffing, hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning.
  • Drive process improvements, project management, and test performance review.
  • Maintain test databases and ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) reflect current practices.
  • Coordinate research and development activities and manage departmental budget and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety standards.
  • Maintain safe, functional laboratory facilities and equipment.
  • Interact with clients to resolve issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Life Science, preferably Chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science.
  • 6 years of Clinical Lab Experience in a high-complexity testing lab.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • ASCP Certification Preferred - MLS or Chemistry C (ASCP).
  • Experience in a Clinical Chemistry lab is preferred.
Work Environment

The position is based in a clinical lab environment, which is very busy with increasing volumes. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
