Job description

Position Summary: Development Engineer

Location: Amphenol: Valley Green, PA (Harrisburg Area)

AICC, a division of Amphenol, is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobil Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM's globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally.

We are currently seeking a Development Engineer to join our team. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA. As a Development Engineer for connector Mezzanine Products you will be responsible for concept generation, design, verification and qualification, as well as supporting new business opportunities. Ensure that the product design is manufactural and will meet the defined customer requirements - including electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements. The position will work as part of a global cross-functional team and include customer interaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conceptualize, design, and develop power connector solutions as required by the BU strategic roadmap and new business opportunities.
  • Work with Front-end team and customers to define product/application requirements.
  • Lead product design reviews and create and communicate technical presentations.
  • Develop testing programs to ensure products work per design intent.
  • Present product concepts to customers early in development cycle, interpret feedback, and incorporate any revised requirements into the design.
  • Define Product, Application, and Packaging specifications.
  • Define a verification and product qualification test plans.
  • Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure products are transitioned to the manufacturing

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years' experience
  • Experience in connector design
  • Proficient in 3D modeling using Solidworks
  • General understanding of drawing standards such as ASME Y14.5.
  • Excellent understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to communicate well with Global Customers and all levels of the organization including Management, Marketing, Sales, Process Engineering, Test Lab personnel, other Engineers (local and global).
  • Ability to prioritize, work to meet objectives and to manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously.
  • ANSYS or other FEA simulation experience
