Sterling Engineering is hiring a Revit Family Development Engineer for a specialized, industry-leading construction equipment provider undergoing a major digital transformation. This is a unique, high-impact project where you’ll take full ownership of building a comprehensive parametric Revit library—directly shaping how engineering and construction teams interact with complex equipment in a BIM environment. If you’re an expert in parametric family creation and want to work on a project with real visibility, autonomy, and long-term impact, this is an outstanding opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop a fully parametric Revit family library for complex construction equipment and components
  • Build flexible, production-grade families that adapt to varying project conditions using advanced parameters and formulas
  • Ensure all families are optimized for BIM coordination, performance, and interoperability
  • Develop families that support automated bill of materials (BOM) generation through accurate parameter integration
  • Create nested and shared families with proper scheduling, tagging, and data extraction capabilities
  • Establish and maintain naming conventions, parameter structures, and modeling standards
  • Ensure compatibility across Revit environments and seamless integration into contractor models
  • Develop a Revit project template including sheet layouts, title blocks, and standardized views
  • Configure annotation families, view templates, and documentation standards aligned with current drawing outputs
  • Collaborate with engineering and drafting teams to define requirements and validate deliverables
  • Create user guides, training materials, and recorded sessions for long-term usability
  • Participate in project reviews, milestone deliverables, and continuous improvement of modeling standards
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in Revit family creation (not general BIM modeling)
  • Proven expertise building complex parametric families for industrial or mechanical equipment
  • Advanced proficiency with Revit Family Editor, including nested families, shared parameters, and parametric modeling
  • Experience developing BIM-ready content for coordination environments (Navisworks, BIM 360, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Level of Development (LOD 300–350) standards
  • Experience creating families optimized for performance, scalability, and interoperability
  • Ability to translate 2D drawings or CAD models into Revit-native parametric families
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks
  • Experience with Dynamo, Revit API, or automation tools is a plus
  • Background in construction equipment, heavy industrial systems, or mechanical design preferred
Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
