Job Description – Partnership Development Associate – Execution

Mission of the Role:

The Partnership Development Associate – Execution is a critical, high-profile role, primarily supporting the deal management and due diligence stage of our partnership development process and is critical to our mission of building a highly scalable, best-in-class partnership development function. For this role, Apex is seeking a driven, process-oriented investment professional, with an interest in gaining intensive private equity deal experience and leading hands-on investments with private businesses. This individual should possess an entrepreneurial mindset to help grow the family of Apex partner companies.  As a member of the Partnership Development team, this position will expose you to the full lifecycle of the M&A process, including business development, deal management, due diligence, third party advisor management, business analysis and valuations, and business integrations. In addition, this role will allow you to work closely with Apex’s business operators to develop value creation initiatives and plans. Successful candidates will have a meaningful impact advancing an industry and growing a company grounded in humbleness, honesty, caring, and hard work.

Responsibilities:

The day-to-day responsibilities of this position will consist of:

  • Supporting, leading and managing the due diligence and M&A process from the signing of a Letter of Intent through the deal Closing with business owners, Apex leaders, and third-party service providers
  • Nurturing and developing a strong, positive relationship with the business owner and his/her team to build trust, embody and portray Apex’s value proposition of being “People First,” and ensuring that the deal is Closed
  • Project managing and executing the entire M&A process and all key activities to make certain that adequate due diligence and First 100 days planning is performed across all areas of the business
  • Oversee all third-party due diligence providers including financial diligence and Quality of Earnings, legal, insurance and benefits diligence
  • Performing strong financial analysis and working with our financial diligence teams, FP&A and senior leaders to identify synergies and develop financial model and forecast
  • Supporting business development and integration teams when needed, with activities such as preliminary model creation, valuation, and post-Closing synergy tracking
  • Directly negotiating with business owners and legal counsel

Candidates should be excited about a role where they will support and play the pivotal position of deal quarterback and be responsible for the evaluation, post-Letter of Intent negotiation, and management and closing of deals. Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, engineering, or a related field with a track record of strong academic and extracurricular performance
  • Strong relationship development and communication skills
  • 1-5 years of experience in a business development, consulting, finance / investment banking, or similar
  • Experience in fast-paced environment, managing and prioritizing dozens of workstreams simultaneously
  • Experience or strong interest in M&A, transaction execution / advisory, private equity and private investments, strongly preferred
  • Financial and excel modelling skills and basic accounting knowledge
  • Experience managing multiple work efforts with little oversight and interacting directly with senior leadership or business owners, a plus
