Job description

The Food & Beverage Outlets Manager is responsible for supporting the Director, Food & Beverage in the strategic business planning, leadership and administration of the Food & Beverage Outlets. The primary focus will be on revenue generating and team/department success in WinSport’s Garden Café, Food Hall, Legacy Cafe, EightyEight Bar & Grill, WinSport Hockey House and Concessions as well as assisting the Catering department where required.

What you will be doing:
  • Direct all aspects of the front-of-house operation of WinSport’s food service locations including: The Garden Café, Food Hall, Legacy Café, EightyEight Bar & Grill, WinSport Hockey House, and Concessions.
  • Help create and manage the annual budget for the food service areas.
  • Monitor financial performance to ensure the department is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment.
  • Work closely with supporting departments to maximize profit contribution of the F&B outlets to the organization.
  • Ensure the departments are reaching objectives by maintaining strong involvement in day-to-day operations.
  • Develop the staff schedule for all areas and process department payroll.
  • Develop and execute departments business plans and adjust as required.
  • Recruit and train team members for all F&B outlets.
  • Encourage exceptional service, repeat business and loyalty while supporting the WinSport Brand.
  • Coach, mentor and support the Assistant Managers and shift leads in reaching objectives, promoting performance and creativity.
  • Along with Marketing Manager, lead development and execution of the department’s marketing plan. Ensure WinSport website for F&B is current and accurate.
  • Examine reports (e.g. inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities and ensure optimum performance.
  • Update and maintain point-of-sale functionality to support accurate transactions, menu updates, pricing changes and reporting for operational efficiency.
  • Analyze and report on the daily, monthly and annual key performance indicators and industry trends of the department.
  • Manage monthly inventory and cost controls / wastage for food and beverage products.
  • Order and maintain alcohol stock in all F&B outlets. Develop liquor, wine and beer menus.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and external customers.
  • Develop, maintain and review department operational policies and procedures.
  • Always demonstrate a safe work practice by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one’s own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests.
  • Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals.
  • Review all OH&S notices/meeting minutes as they are distributed or posted on OH&S boards located within all departments.
  • Other duties as assigned
What you bring:  
  • Post-Secondary education in Food & Beverage or Hospitality Management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the food & beverage, hospitality, exhibitions or non-profit industries an asset.
  • 3+ years’ experience managing & leading a team.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • F&B / hospitality POS systems experience.
  • Well-developed presentation and written communication skills.
  • ProServe Certified.
  • Detailed food, wine, liquor and beer knowledge.
  • Class 5 driver's license.
