Job description

VRC is seeking a Desktop Investigators. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the day-to-day insurance fraud defense investigations and operational needs for multi-state regions. As a key member of the VRC desktop division, the investigator will assist in all facets of the company by conducting database and internet research pertaining to fraud investigations. The desktop investigator will complete tasks with other team members under management supervision, and when needed, will have the opportunity to cross train in other departments/divisions. All team members must have excellent computer skills, be able to multi-task, and problem solve. This position allows for both full-time or part-time, non-exempt positions located in our corporate office in Denton, TX and will report to the Desktop Unit Manager.

The successful candidate will have related experience in one or more of the follow areas:
  • Public Databases
  • Background Investigations
  • Social Media Investigations
  • Records Research
  • Open Source Intelligence
  • Preparing detailed investigative reports
  • Criminal Justice degree or related field preferred
Core Duties amp; Responsibilities:
  • Perform investigative research on a variety of social media platforms to include Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and several others.
  • Conduct searches with local courts, state courts, federal courts, tax assessors, county clerks’ offices, department of motor vehicles, and a wide variety of other agencies.
  • Perform records requests with government agencies to include police departments, local courts, state courts, and federal courts.
  • Review case notes and special handling instructions to ensure proper investigation is completed.
  • Communicate with management regarding investigative findings and handling of assignments.
  • Prepare a written report with summary and analysis of investigative findings in a timely, accurate, consistent, and unbiased written report.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Be highly motivated and possess the ability to work under little supervision
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively manage time, organize multiple projects, and understand directives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, decipher and summarize information quickly
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A valid state issued ID
  • Must pass a drug test and pre-employment testing
  • Upon hiring you must proficiently learn and utilize all electronic tools as required within the scope of this position to include the company's IMS case tracking system

Compensation:

Accepted candidates will be paid a competitive hourly rate of $18–$20 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
