Job description

Position summary Reed Smith Legal Solutions is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Manager, to join their Intelligence & Investigations team to lead complex investigative engagements and deliver actionable intelligence to clients across the legal, financial services, and corporate sectors. This role is ideal for a seasoned investigator and research professional with deep expertise in OSINT methodologies, investigative strategy, and global intelligence gathering. The successful candidate will play a central role in executing high-impact client matters, managing investigative workflows, and mentoring research personnel and subcontractors across multiple jurisdictions.

The Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, technology-enabled investigative solutions. While this position is not primarily sales-focused, the role requires strong relationship management skills and the ability to serve as a trusted ambassador for Reed Smith Legal Solutions internally and externally. Job duties and responsibilities Lead and execute complex investigative and intelligence engagements utilizing advanced OSINT and HUMINT methodologies.

Conduct and oversee investigations related to: Asset tracing Fraud and financial crime investigations Counterparty and reputational due diligence Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) identification Evidence collection and fact-finding Sanctions and compliance-related investigations Opposition and litigation support research Manage and mentor junior researchers, analysts, and subcontractors across domestic and international jurisdictions. Drive innovation in investigative practices by identifying and implementing emerging OSINT tools, technologies, and research techniques. Partner with internal AI and technology teams to identify efficiencies and enhancements across the investigative lifecycle through Generative AI and automation solutions.

Oversee and maintain global investigative databases, research resources, and third-party intelligence networks. Collaborate closely with legal, risk, compliance, and business stakeholders to provide integrated and differentiated client solutions. Build strong internal relationships and act as a visible ambassador for Reed Smith Legal Solutions across practices and geographies.

Ensure high-quality deliverables, project management discipline, and adherence to client timelines and expectations. Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Cybersecurity, or related field. Experience: 10+ years of experience in corporate intelligence, investigations, consulting, law enforcement, government intelligence, legal services, opposition research, or related fields. International work or living experience; multilingual capabilities are strongly preferred.

Experience supporting M&A transactions, corporate development initiatives, or transactional due diligence projects. Familiarity with AI-enabled investigative workflows and emerging technologies supporting intelligence operations. Experience developing or implementing AI-driven solutions to improve investigative efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.

Skills: Demonstrated success conducting sophisticated investigative work and delivering actionable intelligence to clients or senior stakeholders. Strong understanding of the U.S. legal and court systems, including federal, state, and local court structures and publicly available records.

Deep expertise in OSINT research methodologies, investigative databases, and digital intelligence techniques. Experience managing investigative teams, researchers, and third-party vendors across multiple geographies. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities with the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience interfacing directly with clients, attorneys, executives, and cross-functional stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects simultaneously. Additional information Supervisory responsibilities: None.

Equipment used: Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, copier, scanner, etc. Essential job functions Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring prolonged and/or extensive computer use.
