Job description

Overview
Lutron is seeking a dynamic Design Studio Manager to lead the Communications team in our New York City office location. As Design Studio Manager, you will provide operational leadership and team management, working closely with and supporting Lutron's Creative Director, who provides the overall creative vision and strategic direction. You will foster a high-performing team environment, leading the execution of on-budget, high-quality materials while building organizational capability and ensuring seamless creative operations.
As Design Studio Manager, you will manage day-to-day operations of the NYC Communications team, overseeing workflow, resource allocation, and team development. You will serve as the primary operational partner to the Creative Director, translating creative vision into executable plans. Additionally, you will work closely with the Communications Director located in Conshohocken, PA office on operational responsibilities and coordinate with the Conshohocken design team to maintain brand consistency and ensure unified creative vision across both core design locations.

Responsibilities
Creative Operations & Team Leadership
  • Partner with the Creative Director to translate creative vision into operational plans, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director in the Conshohocken PA office on operational responsibilities, resource planning, and process alignment
  • Lead and develop creative professionals and project coordinators, providing mentorship and performance management
  • Manage creative operations including project workflows, resource planning, and capacity management
  • Coordinate with the Conshohocken PA design team to ensure brand consistency and unified execution across both core design locations

Project Management & Execution
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables based on creative direction
  • Coordinate communication between creative teams, marketing, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with creative vision
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address risks, issues, or roadblocks that may impact project success
  • Ensure deliverables meet expectations and are delivered on time and within budget

Brand Consistency & Cross-Office Collaboration
  • Maintain brand standards across the NYC and Conshohocken PA design teams, working with the Creative Director to ensure consistent brand expression
  • Facilitate communication between NYC and Conshohocken PA teams, including creative reviews and best practice alignment
  • Partner with the Communications Director in Conshohocken PA with operational processes and resource coordination between offices
  • Develop processes for maintaining creative quality across both core design locations
  • Coordinate cross-office project assignments and resource sharing between NYC and Conshohocken PA teams

Team Development & Stakeholder Management
  • Build team culture and engagement, fostering collaboration and professional growth
  • Manage recruiting and talent acquisition, working with the Creative Director and the Communications Director to identify skill needs
  • Support the Creative Director and the Communications Director in strategic planning and creative capability development
  • Manage team documentation and coordinate stakeholder presentations with operational context

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Design, Marketing, Communications, or related field required
  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 required
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in creative operations, project management, or creative team leadership that includes supporting creative leadership and translating creative vision into operational excellence required
  • Minimum 5 years leading creative teams in-house or at-agency with companies/brands that offer products within the categories of built environment, furniture & home design (FF&E), automotive, or technology required
  • Experience with budget management and maintaining brand consistency between core design teams preferred
  • Understanding of integrated marketing communications across digital, print, video, and experiential media required
  • Knowledge of creative production processes, workflow tools, vendor management, and quality control standards required
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
