What we offer

The Design Studio Coordinator supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the Design Studio while developing the skills and experience required to take on greater homeowner-facing design responsibilities.

The role will initially focus primarily on coordination, administration, file accuracy and ensuring homeowner appointments and design selections are completed in accordance with construction timelines. Alongside these responsibilities, the employee will complete structured training, support Design Consultants, manage a limited number of assigned homeowner files and provide Design Consultant coverage.

What you'll do

Coordinate Design Studio operations

  • Schedule and update homeowner appointments, monitor construction timelines and ensure design files are completed by required deadlines.
  • Approve, track and upload completed Design files
  • Approve, track and updated late change requests.

Support homeowners and business partners

  • Respond to homeowner questions related to appointments, payments, pricing and the Design Studio process.
  • Research and resolve inquiries from Construction, Contracts, Customer Care, Purchasing, suppliers and other business partners.

Develop as a Junior Design Consultant

  • Shadow experienced Design Consultants and participate in structured product, process and consultation training.
  • Learn to interpret floorplans and architectural drawings and develop knowledge of colour, finishes, products and residential design trends.
  • Support homeowners in understanding available options and making selections that reflect their preferences, budget and home design.
  • Manage a limited number of homeowner files based on demonstrated readiness.
  • Provide Design Consultant vacation and workload coverage once the required training and competency expectations have been met.
  • Participate in special projects and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in Interior Decorating, Interior Design, Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in coordination, administration, customer service, retail design, residential design or a related environment.
  • Previous experience supporting homeowners, customers or clients through a detailed decision-making process.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills.
  • Confidence communicating with homeowners and presenting information in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Strong problem-solving, research and follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with an ERP, customer relationship management system or visualization software is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team.
  • Adaptability and composure when managing changing priorities, product issues or homeowner concerns.

Bonus points

  • Ability to read floorplans or architectural drawings, or the demonstrated ability to learn.
  • Understanding of colour, design principles and residential interior finishes is an asset.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $73,500. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.

You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy's annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
