Job description

Position Overview

The MEP Project Manager is responsible for leading the full lifecycle of mechanical construction projects, with a primary focus on HVAC, plumbing, and related building systems. This role acts as the central point of responsibility for both the client and internal teams, managing projects from early concept and preconstruction through execution, commissioning, and closeout.

This position supports commercial and industrial projects delivered through a design-build or design-assist approach, involving engineering, fabrication, installation, and field coordination. The Project Manager plays a critical role in driving project success across cost, schedule, and client relationships.

Weโ€™re looking for someone who understands how to run work โ€” not just track it โ€” and can operate with ownership across both the technical and business sides of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and driving project execution
  • Manage project financials including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and billing
  • Oversee estimating, proposals, contract development, and project buyout
  • Coordinate internal teams across engineering, fabrication, purchasing, and field operations
  • Partner with field leadership to plan labor, sequencing, and installation strategy
  • Manage all project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project logs
  • Procure major equipment and materials to align with schedule and budget
  • Lead project meetings with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve risks impacting schedule, cost, or performance
  • Support design-build efforts with input on constructability, system design, and cost strategy
  • Drive successful project closeout, commissioning, and client turnover

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience managing mechanical / MEP construction projects
  • Background with a mechanical contractor or GC with strong MEP scope
  • Experience managing HVAC systems, piping, plumbing, or building systems
  • Strong understanding of project financials (budgeting, forecasting, cost control)
  • Experience with submittals, RFIs, change orders, and subcontractor coordination
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead both internal teams and clients

Preferred Experience

  • Design-build or design-assist project experience
  • Commercial, healthcare, industrial, or mission-critical project exposure
  • Experience with BIM/VDC coordination and prefabrication workflows
  • Familiarity with tools like Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or related technical background (preferred, not required)

Why This Opportunity

  • Strong pipeline of commercial and industrial projects
  • Design-build environment with in-house engineering and fabrication
  • High level of ownership and visibility across projects
  • Long-term growth path within a stable, well-established contractor
