Design Account Manager information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Design Account Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Design Account Manager, you need a strong background in design principles, project management, and client relationship management, often supported by a degree in design, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with design software (such as Adobe Creative Suite), project management tools (like Asana or Trello), and CRM systems is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills help foster client satisfaction and ensure smooth project delivery. These skills are crucial for balancing creative vision with client objectives, ensuring successful outcomes and long-term partnerships.

How does a Design Account Manager typically collaborate with creative teams and clients during a project?

A Design Account Manager acts as the primary liaison between clients and creative teams, ensuring that project goals and client expectations are clearly communicated and met. They coordinate regular check-ins, gather and relay feedback, and help resolve any issues that arise during the design process. This role often requires balancing client requests with creative best practices, managing timelines, and ensuring all deliverables align with the agreed-upon strategy. Strong communication and organizational skills are key, as is the ability to foster positive relationships with both internal teams and external clients.

Summary:
The Account Manager - Transportation (Trucking & Fleet Focus) will play a key role within a growing team dedicated to servicing mid- to large-sized trucking and fleet accounts. This individual will partner with multiple Producers, a Lead Account Executive, and other Account Managers to deliver strategic, execution-driven results for clients operating in a complex and highly regulated risk environment.
This role requires a strong foundation in transportation-specific risk management, including insurance program design, carrier positioning, and operational nuances unique to trucking (e.g., fleet exposure, regulatory compliance, safety performance, and claims trends).
The Account Manager will be actively involved in account strategy, marketing, renewals, and day-to-day servicing, while helping ensure a seamless client experience and consistent delivery of value. Over time, this individual will take on increasing ownership of client relationships and play a meaningful role in supporting growth across the transportation practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Strategy & Client Service
  • Partner with Producers and the Lead Account Executive to execute account strategies for trucking and fleet clients, aligning coverage structure with client risk profiles and operational goals
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead client interactions, ensuring consistent, proactive communication and high-quality service delivery
  • Develop a strong understanding of each client's fleet operations, risk exposures, and safety programs to better anticipate needs and provide solutions

Marketing, Quotes & Renewals
  • Manage the marketing and renewal process, including:

    • Preparing and distributing submissions to carriers
    • Gathering and analyzing quotes and coverage options
    • Evaluating program structure, pricing, and carrier fit

  • Present clear, actionable renewal and new business options in collaboration with senior team members
  • Support negotiation efforts with carriers to drive optimal outcomes for clients

Trucking Industry Expertise
  • Apply knowledge of transportation-specific risks, including auto liability, motor truck cargo, physical damage, workers' compensation, and excess/umbrella structures
  • Understand and navigate regulatory environments (DOT/FMCSA) and how they impact underwriting and claims
  • Leverage loss trends, safety performance, and operational data to help influence program design

Account Servicing & Execution
  • Handle day-to-day service needs including:

    • Policy changes and endorsements
    • Certificate issuance
    • Client and carrier inquiries (billing, claims, coverage questions)

  • Maintain accurate and organized client records and documentation in accordance with internal procedures
  • Ensure timely and proactive follow-up on all account-related items

Collaboration & Growth
  • Work closely with a team-based service model, supporting multiple Producers and collaborating across account teams
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners to stay informed on market conditions, appetite, and product offerings
  • Contribute to internal initiatives and best practices as the transportation practice continues to scale
  • Progress toward managing a defined book of business with increasing independence

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of transportation/trucking insurance programs and risk exposures
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on execution and results
  • Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal-with the ability to present options clearly and confidently
  • Strong analytical capability to evaluate coverage structures, pricing, and carrier options
  • High attention to detail and disciplined follow-through
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-7+ years of insurance experience, with a strong preference for transportation/trucking specialization
  • Experience servicing mid to large commercial accounts, ideally within fleet, logistics, or transportation-focused environments

Position Structure:
  • Fully remote flexibility available
  • Hybrid expectation (1-2 days per week in-office) for candidates located near designated office locations

What We Offer:
We're proud to offer a competitive salary, PTO & paid holidays, 401(k) with match, exclusive discount programs, health & wellness programs, and more. Our PeopleFirst culture focuses on building and nurturing lifelong relationships with our employees because, at the end of the day, we exist to be there for others.
