Deloitte Tax LLP is seeking a Tax Senior to join our National Federal Tax Services Strategic Tax Review practice. In this role, you'll help large and midsize organizations identify federal tax planning opportunities that can improve cash tax positions and, in some cases, reduce effective tax rates. You'll work on complex tax matters tied to capital investment, operations, and business transactions while supporting deliverables that create measurable value for clients. This role offers exposure to a national practice, sophisticated technical work, and opportunities for growth within Deloitte Tax.

As a Tax Senior on the Strategic Tax Review team, you will be responsible for...

  • Analyzing client facts, tax positions, and financial data to identify federal tax planning opportunities
  • Preparing technical analyses, calculations, and client-ready deliverables that support tax savings recommendations
  • Reviewing client data related to capital expenditures, deductions, and accounting methods to assess potential benefits

The team

National Federal Tax Services (NFTS) is a national practice within Deloitte Tax LLP that includes specialized service offerings designed to address tax planning opportunities, marketplace needs, and technology-enabled solutions. The practice supports some of the largest organizations across industries with tax planning and compliance services that are built to deliver measurable results. Within NFTS, the Strategic Tax Review (STR) team focuses on identifying federal tax planning opportunities that can generate significant cash tax savings and, in some cases, lower a client's overall effective tax rate. STR commonly serves large and midsize corporations, particularly organizations with significant capital expenditures and an interest in recurring tax savings opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related business field
  • 3+ years of experience in federal corporate income tax, tax consulting, or tax compliance
  • Experience analyzing corporate tax data and identifying federal tax planning opportunities
  • Experience preparing technical tax analyses, memoranda, or client deliverables
  • Experience working with large or midsize corporate clients
  • Ability to travel 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing able to obtain:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • Licensed attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
    • Certifications:
      • Project Management Professional (PMP)
      • Charged Financial Advisor (CFA)

Preferred:

  • Master of Taxation, Master of Business Administration, Juris Doctor, or LLM in Taxation
  • Certified Public Accountant, Enrolled Agent, or licensed attorney credential
  • Experience with accounting methods, fixed asset analyses, or deduction planning
  • Experience using tax research tools and Microsoft Excel for tax analysis
  • Experience supporting multistate or multinational corporate tax engagements

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $78,675 to $160,750.
