Job description

Job Overview 
The primary purpose of the Legal Assistant position is to support the efficient collections of delinquent tax accounts within the Special Collections department. This position exists to enhance the department's workflow by providing critical administrative, legal, and research support to department manager, attorneys and paralegals. By managing essential functions such as creating lawsuit packets, reviewing court documents, tracking payments, and maintaining accurate database records, the role ensures the department operates effectively and achieves its goals in collecting delinquent tax accounts.

Responsibilities and Duties 
• Views and obtains court documents online
• Evaluate delinquent tax roll 
• Document all activities in the appropriate internal system(s)
• Uses various skip-tracing methods to locate delinquent taxpayers and defendants in lawsuits to build lawsuit packet
• Updates address records in Oracle database
• Monitoring payments on eligible accounts 
• Researching status of corporate entities
• Gathers information regarding delinquent tax accounts and provides reports to paralegals and Attorneys as requested
• Upload and respond to incoming department mail 
• Create field visit packets for paralegals
• Views and obtains court documents online
• Evaluate delinquent tax roll

• Must be able to sit at a desk for up to three straight hours without a break

• Must be detail oriented
• Must possess good grammar, spelling and analytical skills
