DSP โ€“ Direct Support Professional-

Are you passionate about supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? We are seeking caring, dependable, and hard-working Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our Day Services team. DSPs are responsible for supporting the health, safety, and overall well-being of persons supported within our Day Program and Employment and Community First (ECF) program.

In this role, the Direct Support Professional provides person-centered support in both community-based and facility-based settings. DSPs assist individuals with daily activities, skill development, and community engagement while promoting independence, dignity, and meaningful participation.


Job Type:

  • Full-time: Mon.-Fri. 8a to 4p

Salary:

  • $15.68 per hour

DSP - Day Program Professional Job Summary:

The DSP - Day Program professional performs a variety of tasks in order to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, better known as our persons served population. As a DSP - Day Program professional, or ECF, you will aid our persons served by providing them with an opportunity to live the life in the community they deserve, encouragement and guidance throughout their day-to-day life. The DSP - Day Program professional will also work with our ECF services that include: Community Integration Support Service, Independent Living Skills, Personal Assistance, Supportive Home Care, Community Living Supports, and Community Transportation.


DSP - Day Services Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in both community-based and facility-based day service settings. The DSP assists persons supported with daily needs, skill development, and meaningful engagement while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and community inclusion. This role is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of persons

supported by implementing Individual Support Plans and providing person-centered support tailored to each individualโ€™s needs and goals. The DSP fosters positive relationships, encourages participation in community activities, and supports individuals in developing life skills and natural supports, while maintaining compliance with agency policies, documentation standards, and applicable state and regulatory requirements.


DSP - Day Program Professional Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in accordance with Person-Centered Support Plans (PCSPs) and agency policies.
  • Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, feeding, mobility, transfers, and other personal care needs as required.
  • Support individuals in developing skills, independence, and self-advocacy through individualized activities and daily routines.
  • Engage individuals in meaningful, age-appropriate, and person-centered activities in both facility-based and community-based settings.
  • Accompany and support individuals during community outings, recreational activities, volunteer opportunities, and scheduled appointments.
  • Ensure the health and safety of individuals at all times by providing appropriate supervision and maintaining a safe, supportive environment.
  • Accurately complete daily documentation and required records in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain current compliance with all required training and certifications and review assigned communications and training as directed.
  • Attend and participate in required staff meetings, training, and Person-Centered Support Plan (PCSP) meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect personal and health information in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and respectful communication while following all agency policies and procedures.

DSP - Day Program Professional Qualifications / Skills:

  • Ability to work in both community-based and facility-based environments with flexibility to adapt to changing schedules, locations, and individual needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document services accurately and communicate effectively with individuals supported, coworkers, supervisors, and community partners.
  • Ability to complete required documentation and service notes in accordance with agency standards, regulatory requirements, and billing guidelines.
  • Ability to provide physical assistance, including lifting, transferring, positioning, and ambulation support for individuals weighing up to 150 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals supported in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Dependable attendance and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also performing duties independently.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to behavioral, medical, or emergency situations in accordance with training and agency procedures.


Employment Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid TN Driving Licenses
  • US Work Authorization
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • No more than 3 moving violations on your MVR within the past 3 years
  • At least 3 years clean driving experience
  • Written and Verbal Bilingual Fluency is a plus
  • 5 years of verifiable work history
  • DSP or caregiving experience is preferred
