Summary
We are seeking a versatile Pastry Chef to impress our customers with delicious traditional and healthy alternative pastry creations. We strive to provide our guests with balanced dessert options. In addition to traditional sweets, we aim to provide a vitiate of dietary specific options; from keto, to gluten free, to vegan and paleo. We strive to create a fun and welcoming environment where people of all pallets and dietary limitations can come together to enjoy a meal. As a Pastry Chef, you will liaise with the executive chef and other chefs to design seasonal menus. Your duties will include overseeing the baking of pastries for confectionary displays, scheduled events, and special requests.
To be successful as a Pastry Chef, you should be able to supervise pastry staff under stressful conditions and also have extensive experience in pastry baking and a strong foundation in organization. Be knowledgeable about allergies and preparation of pastry items in order to be able to appropriately train and inform other team members. First-class Pastry Chefs use their natural flair to inspire other chefs and never fail to create impressive confections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Consulting with the executive chef and other chefs to plan menus.
  • Executing pastry orders for weekly preparations and scheduled parties.
  • Demonstrating skill in baking pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, sweets, and pies with a emphasis on alternative/ healthy baking.
  • Applying classic pastry baking techniques when preparing traditional pastries.
  • Training and supervising pastry staff as well as other chefs and coworkers who share in pastry related responsibilities.
  • Adhere to food industry regulations.
  • Monitoring equipment and ensuring all specialized pastry baking tools are clean and in working order.
  • Maintaining the good running order of specialized pastry baking equipment.
  • Filling out and upholding pastry par sheet and keeping pastry section records.

Pastry Chef Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 or more years of experience as a Pastry Chef, baker, or similar.
  • Advanced knowledge of traditional pastry baking techniques.
  • Creative ability in designing, decorating, and filling confectionery.
  • Ability to coordinate with other chefs and manage pastry section program.
  • In-depth knowledge of food industry regulations.
  • Available to work overnight or early morning shifts.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

General Physical Demands for the Position:
Cooks will regularly stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, turn, lift, talk, walk, walk on uneven ground, carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Team lift is required for anything over twenty-five (25) pounds or any awkward lifting.
