Job description

The Childcare Director is responsible for the overall operation, management, and quality of the childcare center. We use the Montessori Method to teach and have much of the Montessori equipment. This position provides leadership to teachers and staff, ensures a safe and nurturing environment for children, maintains compliance with state licensing requirements, and builds positive relationships with families and the community.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the childcare center.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate teachers and support staff.
  • Develop staff schedules and maintain appropriate classroom staffing ratios.
  • Ensure compliance with state childcare licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies.
  • Maintain accurate enrollment, attendance, staff, and child records.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children's development, needs, and concerns.
  • Address parent concerns and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure classrooms provide age-appropriate, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Monitor classroom quality and provide coaching and support to teachers.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, secure, and welcoming facility.
  • Manage supplies, equipment, and inventory.
  • Assist with enrollment, tours, marketing, and community outreach.
  • Monitor budgets, expenses, tuition collection, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure staff follow health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Perform other duties necessary for the successful operation of the center.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Additional training in Montessori encouraged.
  • Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, or childcare management.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of childcare licensing regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Must meet all education, experience, background-check, and other requirements established by applicable state childcare regulations.
