Description:

Ridgeline Roofing & Restoration

Location: Remote – Southeast (AL, NC, SC, TN, GA, FL, MS, AR preferred)

Position Overview

Ridgeline Roofing & Restoration is a private equity-backed, multi-entity platform experiencing rapid growth – organic and through acquisition. We are seeking a strong, hands-on Assistant Controller to help scale and strengthen our accounting function as the business continues to grow.

This role will be a key leader within the finance organization, responsible for owning the monthly close process, preparing draft consolidated financial statements, supporting high-quality financial reporting, and helping drive accountability across the accounting team. The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Accounting Manager, Controller and CFO in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where accuracy, responsiveness, and sound judgment are critical.

This position will provide leadership over the day-to-day accounting function and month-end close process. This individual will also gain exposure to acquisition-related accounting and integration work with the opportunity to take on more over time based on business needs and demonstrated capacity.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

  • Own and manage the monthly close process across multiple entities, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team
  • Prepare draft consolidated financial statements and related supporting schedules for Controller and CFO review
  • Help drive improvements in close timelines, documentation, workflow, and overall reporting quality
  • Support the preparation of internal monthly reporting packages and ad hoc financial analyses

Financial Analysis & Business Support

  • Perform monthly variance analysis, including comparisons to budget, prior periods, and operational expectations
  • Partner with leadership to identify and explain key financial trends, risks, and performance drivers
  • Support branch-level and entity-level financial reporting to improve visibility and decision-making across the business

Team Leadership & Accountability

  • Directly oversee the Accounting Manager
  • Support development, prioritization, and accountability across the broader accounting team through the Accounting Manager, including the Senior Accountant, A/P, and A/R functions
  • Help create structure, discipline, and consistency within a growing accounting organization
  • Promote strong communication, responsiveness, and ownership across the team

Accounting Operations, Controls & Process Improvement

  • Help standardize accounting processes, policies, and controls across a growing multi-entity platform
  • Ensure consistent application of GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Identify process gaps, reporting inefficiencies, and control risks, and help implement practical improvements
  • Support the build-out of a more scalable, disciplined controllership function as the company grows

Audit & Compliance Support

  • Assist with annual audits, reviews, and other external reporting requirements
  • Prepare audit-ready schedules, reconciliations, and documentation throughout the year
  • Support implementation of accounting policies, internal controls, and technical accounting conclusions as needed

Acquisition & Integration Support

  • Provide support on acquisition and integration-related accounting projects as needed
  • Assist with onboarding acquired entities into Ridgeline’s monthly reporting and close processes
  • Support opening balance sheet, purchase accounting, and integration activities on a limited basis initially, with increased involvement over time as capacity and business needs evolve

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field required
  • CPA or Master’s degree is a plus, but not required
  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
  • Experience in a multi-entity, high-growth, or private equity-backed environment is a plus
  • Public accounting experience is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus
  • Experience with Datarails a plus

Key Attributes for Success

  • Strong accountant with the ability to own the close process and produce reliable financial information
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to operate effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving ability and sound professional judgment
  • Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy and follow-through
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on execution with team leadership and process improvement
  • Adept at financial reporting, variance analysis, reconciliations, and close management
