As an Operations Data & Analytics Intern, you'll be part of Operations Products team that turns raw airline data into real-world impact. From flight performance to customer experience, you'll dive into massive datasets, sharpen data products, and uncover insights that drive decision-making across Airport Ops, Tech Ops, Customer Ops, and more. This is a hands-on role where you'll gain exposure to large-scale airline data, learning how analytics keeps one of the world's largest airlines moving.
This internship is designed solely to provide you with skill development and valuable work experience. This role will likely not convert to a full-time position at United at the conclusion of the internship.
Responsibilities
  • Build & Validate - Support the development and testing of operational data modules that power data products used by frontline employees and leaders.
  • Streamline the Process - Help document, refine, and automate SQL, Python, and Databricks workflows to make analysis repeatable and scalable.
  • Bridge Business & Analytics - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn operational questions into actionable insights, exploring flight, customer, and operational data to find trends, outliers, and opportunities for performance improvement.

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Current student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical toolkit with SQL and/or Python experience (Databricks or Redshift exposure is a plus).
  • Ability to explain findings clearly to both technical experts and business leaders.
  • Natural curiosity, initiative, and a drive to dig into complex data challenges that have a real operational impact.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated understanding of the capabilities and limitations of generative AI tools and the ability to leverage AI effectively to support research, analysis, content creation, and problem-solving. Applies critical thinking to validate AI-generated outputs while adhering to organizational policies related to responsible AI use, data privacy, and security.
