We are looking for a Data Operations Director to join our team. In this role, you will oversee and identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business growth, enhance decision-making, and improve operational efficiency with our Key Accounts/Retail domain. You will direct a team of skilled data-focused team members, manage complex operational business intelligence projects, and ensure that data insights align with our strategic goals. The Data Operations Director involves a blend of hands-on data analysis, cross-functional collaboration, decision-making, and leadership. By directing the data activities of the team, you'll work closely with the Team Directors and Leaders as well as the Technology Enablement team and makes decisions related to overseeing and guiding data-related activities for our Key Accounts/Retail domain. This role covers a lot of support areas across the team. This is a leadership position and has responsibility for performance reviews, staff development, employee engagement, and addressing any necessary disciplinary actions as required.

A variety of these traits will help land you this job. If you have:

  • a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • proven experience in a data operations role with at least 3-5 years of experience in a managerial position along with total 7+ years of working in the data domain as a data practitioner.
  • excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading data operations and/or reporting teams.
  • experience with apply continuous improvement for efficiency with leveraging concepts such as lean management, six sigma or TQM techniques.
  • experience with SQL and with data visualization & reporting tools such as Tableau or Quicksight. Quicksight highly preferred.

  • make the right call with quality decisions, good judgment and keen problem-solving skills in determining better, more efficient work flows with the same high-quality standard
  • drive results, take initiative and be action-oriented by applying time management and self-management skills every day in order to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
  • be accountable and take ownership of work commitments in meeting clients’ expectations and timelines

  • have a proven track record with taking spreadmarts to centralized datamarts or data products

  • have experience in developing and implementing data management and governance frameworks
  • have the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • adhere strong written and verbal communication skills for translating complex data findings into understandable, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders

In this position, you will:

  • monitor the performance of operational BI systems, including the efficiency of data processing, the accuracy of analytics, and the responsiveness of reporting tools. Identify and address any issues or bottlenecks and optimize processes to improve performance via further automation.
  • establish, refine and optimize data management practices and discipline related to data quality, data ownership, data lifecycle management and data privacy.
  • motivate, mentor, coach and train employees for professional development, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • set high performance expectations, audits those expectations and provide feedback, both positive and constructive to ensure those expectations are met.
  • support the Account Team by performing various tasks that are directed by Account Directors, Managers and Leaders.
  • manage a team that consists of a Client Data Strategist, Data Project Manager, Data Specialist, and Retail Program Data Manager.
  • manage the process training / New Hire process training and onboarding.
  • interpret data findings to support strategic decision-making.
  • work closely with various departments to understand their data needs and provide them with relevant, impactful insights.
  • facilitate communication between data teams and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on data strategies and objectives.
  • use data-driven insights to guide business decisions that have a significant impact on company operations and strategy.
  • provide recommendations to senior leadership based on thorough data analysis.
  • organize and conduct training sessions for the data analytics team, ensuring they are proficient in the latest data management tools and methodologies.
  • ensure that all tools and software used by the team are up-to-date and meet the organization’s needs.
  • keep abreast of the latest industry trends and advancements in data management practices, incorporating new methods and technologies into the team’s workflow.
  • collaborate with other personnel and external vendors as it relates to data acquisition or other technology tooling needs.
  • perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by others in management.
