Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Management Specialist is responsible for management of the data transfer specification (DTS) process, enabling MSD to meet customer-specific data reporting requirements. Additionally, by acting in an administrative role, this position will support development of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), aligning LIMS-generated data with DTS agreements and supporting LIMS development. Support of the automation initiative is another key role for this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Provide overall administrative support of the LIMS database, including but not limited to, general maintenance and updates, troubleshooting, and serving as a point of contact (POC) for the LIMS vendor and for clients requiring Data Transfer Services.
โ€ข Responsible for updating the LIMS system, customizing to accommodate any process updates, managing user access and rights, and t roublesh ooting.
โ€ข As specified by key stakeholders, develop customized DTS report formats and custom data reports for clients.
โ€ข Maintain security and integrity controls. Formulate and implement policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization.
โ€ข Provide training and guidance to users on effective utilization of LIMS application.
โ€ข Provide input on, and support of, process improvements which involve automation (e.g ., robotic handling systems). Understand gaps in manual laboratory processes and help to implement solutions.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
โ€ข Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, or other STEM field.
โ€ข A minimum of one year of experience with data management in a regulated environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
โ€ข Knowledge of administrating a LIMS system
o Previous experience with implementing and testing LIMS a plus
โ€ข Ability to manage large data sets
โ€ข Strong project management skills for planning and executing multiple projects and priorities
โ€ข Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.
โ€ข Ability to work in a customer-facing role to establish data transfer specification agreements and align agreements with data report generation.
โ€ข Proficient in Excel
o Experience in creating and manipulating Excel databases a plus
โ€ข Knowledge of coding using VB Script or JavaScript preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods. The individual is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. May require viewing a computer screen for long periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
โ€ข This position is performed in an office environment; on occasion, in a laboratory environment.
COMPENSATION SUMMARY:
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,100 to $87,900. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
