Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for managing and maintaining materials/finished product inventories in the Emergent warehouses.  The incumbent is also responsible for the moving, storing, and issuance of materials in the ERP system (SAP).

Responsibilities

  • Performs the organized movement and storage of all incoming controlled materials and consumables; May require the use of a pallet stacker/ forklift when placing materials in the appropriate places in the warehouse racking system
  • Issues consumable materials according to KanBan cards/requests and is responsible for distributing those materials in a timely manner
  • Dispenses controlled/uncontrolled chemical and non-chemical materials using our ERP system.
  • Responsible for receiving incoming and shipping outgoing goods/products using an ERP system and following guidelines/policies
  • Enters products received accurately and efficiently in our ERP system.
  • Examines deliveries at receipt to check that containers are not damaged and that the consignment corresponds to the order
  • Immediately identifies specific storage measures and ensures goods/products are stored in accordance of written instructions/procedures
  • Performs the shipment of all goods and products using appropriate temperature management and sufficient packing to provide quality transport
  • Initiates and maintains perpetual, cycle, and physical inventory counts of material and finished product inventories in EBCI warehouses to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Strives to meet company and department goals/objectives by taking the initiative to make improvement suggestions such as reducing/eliminating waste and/or reducing non-value added activities while maintaining the operating guidelines of the company
  • Ensures that communication between fellow employees and other departments are performed in a professional and team oriented manner
  • Ensures that all required documentation is complete and accurate
  • Cleans/sanitizes and maintains the warehouse, shipping/receiving docks, and other assigned work areas
  • Works in accordance with Environmental, Health, and Safety Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

Education, Experience & Skills

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent level of education
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a warehouse setting; previous experience in a highly regulated environment such as Pharmaceutical Manufacturing is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word and Outlook is required; Data entry experience (with accuracy) is considered a must
  • Previous use of a computerized inventory system (e.g. SAP) and previous inventory control experience is highly beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail skills is a requirement
  • Ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices
  • A strong work ethic with the ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and background check.
