What is a data associate?

Data Associates are professionals who collect, manage, process, and ensure the quality of data within an organization. They often work with databases, spreadsheets, and software tools to organize and validate data, making it accessible and accurate for analysis and reporting. Data Associates may also assist with data entry, cleaning, and basic analysis tasks, supporting teams like data analysts or data scientists. To thrive as a Data Associate, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in data management or statistics, often supported by a bachelor's degree in a related field. Job description

Company Profile
At Sand Cherry Associates, we excel in the design and delivery of strategic customer-centric initiatives through digitally native, data-empowered solutions. Our client's confidence in us is centered on exceptionally skilled, high-energy talent working with the support of the full Sand Cherry team. Finding the right match for this role is a critical aspect of continuing that success.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst who will leverage advanced, non-machine-learning analytical techniques to investigate business questions, uncover meaningful insights, and translate complex data into actionable recommendations that improve customer reliability and video product performance. The Data Analyst will partner closely with management, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to transform business questions into clearly defined analytical problems, explore and analyze data, and communicate findings in a way that supports strategic and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-directed analyst with strong expertise in SQL, Excel, and Tableau, along with experience using Alteryx for data preparation and transformation. This individual should be equally comfortable working with complex datasets, developing executive-facing dashboards, and presenting findings and recommendations to senior technical and non-technical audiences. This position requires 4 days per week onsite in Denver, CO. Only candidates currently located in the Denver metropolitan area will be considered. All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. We are unable to work with C2C arrangements for this opportunity.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Partner with management and key stakeholders to transform ambiguous business questions into clearly defined, well-scoped, and actionable analytical problem statements.
• Take ownership of critical analytical projects from initial problem definition through analysis, recommendations, and delivery of actionable insights.
• Explore complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, performance issues, and opportunities that can influence business strategy and improve customer and product reliability.
• Apply appropriate statistical and analytical techniques to investigate well-defined business questions and support data-driven decision-making.
• Develop ETL workflows using Alteryx and/or SQL to extract, transform, clean, validate, and join data from multiple sources into analysis-ready datasets.
• Perform complex data analysis using SQL and Excel, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the analytical process.
• Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports that track key performance indicators, reliability metrics, trends, and overall business performance.
• Develop reporting and visualizations that enable executive stakeholders to quickly understand performance and identify areas requiring attention.
• Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives supported by effective charts, figures, tables, and data visualizations.
• Develop polished, executive-ready PowerPoint presentations with a strong emphasis on clarity, readability, and effective storytelling.
• Present findings, insights, and recommendations to senior-level technical and non-technical audiences, adapting communication to the audience and organizational environment.
• Leverage knowledge of the cable, telecommunications, and/or video industry to quickly understand business issues, operational challenges, and data context.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business, technical, product, and operational teams to ensure analyses address the right questions and lead to measurable outcomes.
Requirements
• 5+ years of professional data analysis experience, preferably within reliability, operations, telecommunications, cable, video, or a related environment.
• Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with SQL, Excel, and Tableau is required.
• Experience with Alteryx is highly desirable, particularly for developing repeatable ETL and data-preparation workflows.
• Experience within the cable/telecommunications industry is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of data transformation, cleansing, validation, joining, and analysis across multiple data sources.
• Solid foundation in statistics with the ability to select and apply appropriate analytical techniques to business problems.
• Proven ability to independently analyze complex datasets and distill findings into clear, actionable business insights and recommendations.
• Experience developing and maintaining Tableau dashboards, KPI reporting, and executive-level data visualizations.
• Strong PowerPoint skills with experience developing polished presentations that communicate analytical findings effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to present complex information to senior leadership.
• Strong stakeholder-management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Highly detail-oriented, data-driven, and intellectually curious, with strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, work independently, and drive analyses from conception through recommendation.
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field required; Master's degree preferred.
