Job description

York Space Systems was founded to radically improve spacecraft affordability and reliability, transforming, and enabling next- generation space mission operations worldwide. Today, York is one of the most innovative aerospace companies, specializing in end-to-end customer solutions and the rapid production of spacecraft platforms. York's complete Space Segment Solution includes spacecraft production, payload integration, system integration & test, launch services, ground segment services, and mission operations, enabling customers to leverage York's existing technology solutions to get to orbit rapidly and responsively. We're looking to expand our team across the board.
York is seeking an Enterprise Software Specialist for a high-level technical role responsible for the full-stack health, performance, and compliance of core business systems within an Azure Government (GCC High) and FedRAMP environment. Beyond identity and cloud administration, this position requires deep technical ownership of the application layer, including web server management, database maintenance, and complex fault analysis. You will serve as the primary technical liaison for third-party software vendors while ensuring all systems operate within strict federal security boundaries.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 3 support for enterprise applications, managing the underlying web servers (IIS, Apache, Nginx) and ensuring high availability for both SaaS and self-hosted government-ready tools.
  • Perform routine DB maintenance, performance tuning, and schema troubleshooting (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) to support application backends. Manage secure data-at-rest encryption and backup validation.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex system outages or performance degradations. Utilize log aggregation tools and telemetry to identify issues across the application, database, or network layers.
  • Act as the lead technical point of contact for software vendors. Manage escalations, oversee third-party patching cycles, and ensure vendor remote access complies with CMMC/FedRAMP "least privilege" protocols.
  • Maintain the Microsoft 365 GCC High tenant. Ensure all application configurations, integrations, and data flows adhere to NIST 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 controls.
  • Maintain secure connectivity between on-premises Cisco/UniFi networking hardware and Azure Gov resources, ensuring application traffic is optimized and encrypted.
  • Develop and execute rigorous testing and deployment plans for application upgrades, security patches, and database migrations in a zero-downtime-focused environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in managing IIS or Apache and administering MS SQL Server (T-SQL, maintenance plans, and permissions).
  • Direct experience working within Compliance Frameworks and Controls
  • Solid understanding of Cisco switching and UniFi wireless environments, specifically regarding how network latency and VLAN segmentation impact application delivery.
  • Mastery of PowerShell for system auditing, database tasks, and automating vendor-provided update packages.
  • Expert-level experience with troubleshooting tools (e.g., Event Viewer, Wireshark, SQL Profiler, and browser developer tools).
  • 6+ years in Systems Administration, with at least 3 years specifically supporting the application/database tier in a regulated (ITAR, FedRAMP, or CJIS) environment.
  • Willingness to work full time in office.
  • US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Sentinel or Defender for Cloud for application-level threat hunting.
  • Experience configuring SSO/SAML and SCIM provisioning within Microsoft Entra ID for government-certified third-party apps.
  • Certifications:
  • MCSA: SQL 2016 (or equivalent modern Data Associate cert).
  • CompTIA Security+ (required for IAT Level II compliance).
  • Azure Solutions Architect or Administrator (AZ-104/AZ-305).

Benefits
In addition to compensation, York Space Systems is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance along with PTO and a 401K.
