Job Purpose

Manage and improve production line productivity and quality relative to cutting tool designs to achieve manufacturing characteristic (SEQDCM) improvements. 

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead tool budget creation, control, and analysis to evaluate cutting tool budgets
  • Lead/coordinate daily engineering support troubleshooting tooling problems to achieve quality, cost and delivery targets; develop and maintain tools, tool drawings and holders
  • Perform and coordinate tool analysis - documenting and reporting the results for continuous improvement through the use of sound engineering theory and technology to improve running characteristics (SEQDCM)
  • Coordinate the development of cutting tools, tool holders, and machining process for new model, capacity up, and new technology implementation
  • Provide technical support for internal tool setup and tool regrind processes
  • Support line side trial runs during tool test and new models to ensure quality and delivery is achieved
  • Lead collaborative meetings & negotiate with customers/suppliers of all levels & capabilities
  • Communicate and present technical issues and tool reports to audiences of all backgrounds and levels
  • Work with production, new model, machining, product development and other engineering to ensure balanced processing occurs
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Develop, manage and execute Business Plan activities in a timely manner
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.q. Mechanical, Electrical) or related equivalent experience
  • 2-8 years of experience based on education
Other Job-Specific Skills
  • Knowledge of: Microsoft Office, AutoCad 2D & 3D, Solidworks
  • Skills In: Presenting, written communication, organizational skills
  • Ability to: Convey manufacturing concepts to associates, perform advanced mathematics, read engineering designs, manage projects.

Working Conditions:

  • 40% Office environment & 60% Production Floor implementing projects and/or countermeasures
  • 1-2 day trips approximately 3 times per year. Potential overseas travel for 2-4 weeks at a time with New Model
  • 5-12 Hours overtime per week / Some weekends and holiday/shutdown work as needed
