What You'll Be Doing This is an entry-level to advanced-level skilled position performing tasks associated with physically initiating and discontinuing water service, leak investigation and various customer service functions in addition to inspection and repair of fire hydrants and setting, reading, programming, repairing and maintaining water meters and meter transmitter units. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled installation, maintenance and customer service tasks on residential and commercial water meters. This is accomplished by locating, installing, reading, replacing, repairing, testing, and adjusting a variety of large complex component water meters and fire hydrants.

Required Qualifications Field Service Trainee Technician ($53,570-$116,738 DOQ): HS/GED; Minimum of one year of experience with maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience using computers. Possession of a valid driver's license and safe driving record. VDOT Flagging, CPR and First Aid Certifications or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Ability to assist with after-hour requests and emergencies on an "on-call" basis. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office. Field Service Technician ($54,601-$118,983 DOQ): HS/GED; Minimum of two to three years of experience with water meter reading system and water system maintenance.

Possession of a valid driver's license and safe driving record. VDOT Flagging, CPR and First Aid Certifications or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Ability to assist with after hour request and emergencies on an "on-call" basis.

Meter test bench certification. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office. Field Service Senior Technician ($57,331-$127,295 DOQ): HS/GED; Minimum of four to five years of experience with water meter reading system and water system maintenance.

Possession of a valid driver's license and safe driving record. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B and tanker endorsement. VDOT Flagging, forklift, trench safety, confined space, CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Ability to assist with after hour request and emergencies on an "on-call" basis. Advanced knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position. Meter test bench certification.

Back flow Certified. Preferred Qualifications Field Service Trainee Technician: Two years of specific utility system or related experience. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B.

Forklift, cross connection and confined space certifications. Bilingual in English/Spanish. Field Service Technician: Four years of specific water meter and utility system experience.
