Job description

Title:                        Cashier/Customer Service

Department:           Ft. Polk Base Supply Base Supply Center (BSC)

Location:                 Fort Polk, Louisiana

Wage Category:     Non-Exempt

Report To:              Director, BSC Program          

Overview: The Cashier/Customer Service Associate supports the daily operations of the Base Supply Center by providing excellent customer service, processing transactions accurately, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This role assists customers with product selection, manages point-of-sale activities, and helps ensure shelves remain stocked and properly labeled. The associate also monitors inventory trends and supports overall store operations as needed.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Customer Service

  • Greet customers and provide helpful, professional service.
  • Assist customers in locating products and answering questions.
  • Promote positive customer interactions to support customer loyalty.

Point of Sale (POS) Operations

  • Tally purchases and processes transactions using CounterPoint of Sale.
  • Receive payments, obtain signatures when required, and ensure accurate processing.
  • Operate the cash register for all transactions.
  • Validate customer buying authority through required letters and account setup.

Store Maintenance and Merchandising

  • Stock shelves, label products, and assist with merchandising.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly tagged store environment.
  • Monitor inventory surges or slowdowns and communicate concerns to management.

General Support

  • Assist the BSC Director with additional tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support daily store operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ualifications:

  • Must be legally blind.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • General operating knowledge of office machinery and computer systems.
  • Professional communications skills promoting customer loyalty.
  • Ability to operate CounterPoint of Sale (POS).
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other programs.
  • Physical ability to push, pull, and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Some walking and minimal climbing are required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Military Base security pass.
  • Must possess a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or other state photo identity card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent).
