WAGO is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead strategic business development activities, focusing on Tesla as the primary strategic account while developing additional key target customers that align with WAGO's long-term growth initiatives. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and executing account strategies that drive specification, project engagement, and sustainable revenue growth within Tesla and other strategically identified customers. Additional target accounts will be selected based on market opportunity, growth potential, strategic alignment, and emerging industry trends.

This individual will collaborate closely with Regional Sales Managers, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering, and Global Industry Teams to identify opportunities, influence specifications, and convert strategic initiatives into long-term business growth. The primary objective of this position is to establish WAGO as a preferred technical partner within Tesla while expanding WAGO's presence into additional strategic accounts that support long-term growth initiatives across industrial automation, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and emerging technologies.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Four-year technical degree and/or equivalent industry experience required
  • Experience in the sale of electrical connectors, electronics, and automation products
  • Knowledge of automotive industry, and automotive key accounts, sub-suppliers, OEM's and their requirements
  • Experience in national or international sales with a technically oriented company in the electrical industry
  • Strong communications skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of the sales process and strategic selling methodology
  • Sales experience in delivering technical value through domain excellence
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage varied tasks and possess excellent organizational, computer, oral, and written communication skills. Competence in MS Office application programs
  • Must be willing to travel 50%

Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Account Development
  • Serve as the primary Business Development Manager responsible for the Tesla account across NA
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic account plan for Tesla
  • Lead cross-functional customer development projects by coordinating engineering, product management, operations/demand planning, and sales resources to deliver successful execution from opportunity identification through commercial launch
  • Build long-term relationships with executive leadership, engineering, operations, procurement, and manufacturing organizations within assigned strategic accounts
  • Develop annual business plans and measurable growth objectives for each assigned strategic account
  • Develop additional strategic target accounts based on market potential and corporate growth objectives as directed by WAGO Sales Leadership

Business Development
  • Identify new projects, applications, and strategic initiatives within Tesla and assigned target accounts
  • Drive early engagement during specification and design phases
  • Develop opportunities throughout the customer ecosystem, including:
    • Machine Builders
    • System Integrators
    • EPC Firms
    • Panel Builders
    • Strategic Suppliers
  • Continuously evaluate emerging markets and recommend additional strategic accounts for future business development efforts

Market Development
  • Monitor industry trends, capital investments, facility expansions, and emerging technologies
  • Identify new strategic customers that align with WAGO's growth initiatives
  • Provide recommendations for future target account selection based on market intelligence and growth potential
