Job description

Title: Market Development Manager - Municipal Bleach Solutions
Location: Houston, TX
Salary: $135,000 - 198,000
Schedule: Hybrid schedule available of up to 2 days remote per week

Focus: The Market Development Manager - Municipal Bleach Solutions is responsible for the development and support of a new commercial opportunity focused on ready-to-use sodium hypochlorite (bleach) for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. Many municipalities currently purchase chlorine and manage on-site conversion and handling. This role will help drive the transition to a safer, simpler, and more service-oriented disinfection solution. In this role, you will work across commercial, technical, and operational teams to identify customer opportunities, support conversion efforts, and help establish a repeatable go-to-market approach.
What You'll Do:
  • Market Growth & Customer Development: Identify and engage municipal water/wastewater treatment customer opportunities for transition from chlorine to ready-to-use bleach; Assess customer processes and pain points to support preliminary conversion evaluations.
  • Commercial Execution & Sales Support: Build and execute the go-to market approach for municipal customers, including opportunity qualification and account planning; Support preparation of proposals, bids, and responses while managing pipeline of qualified opportunities and tracking progress of KPI milestones.
  • Value Proposition Support: Translate technical and operational benefits into clear customer value propositions; Develop customer-facing materials, presentations and basic financial/ROI analyses; Gather feedback to refine product and service offering.
  • Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with internal Operations, Logistics, EH&S, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure feasibility and compliance of proposed solutions; Coordinate with external municipal stakeholders (engineering firms, equipment suppliers, service providers); Align with Bleach and CAPV Commercial Leaders on all offer terms (price, payment terms, logistics solutions) to ensure successful post-conversion integration into the CAPV, Bleach commercial business.
  • Market Intelligence & Reporting: Monitor competitive offerings, alternative approaches/technologies, regulatory requirements, safety requirements, and procurement trends in municipal disinfection; Provide regular leadership updates on market progress, sales forecasts, and strategic adjustments based on performance metrics and feedback.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree*; Engineering, Chemistry, Business or Marketing disciplines preferred. Master's degree* preferred
  • 5+ years of related experience in Business Development, Sales, Marketing or Product Management; 8+ years' experience preferred
  • Prior experience working with complex products or services in chemical, industrial, manufacturing, or water-related industries required
  • Knowledge of the wastewater treatment business preferred
  • Prior engagement with municipal, utility, or public-sector customers preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally, from field operations to executive leadership
  • Ability to work effectively in an evolving, early-stage business environment
  • Analytical and commercial mindset; self-starter with strong organizational and follow-through skills
  • Must be able to travel up to 35%
