Business Development Manager

Position Summary

Diversified Employment Services is seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Business Development Manager to help accelerate our continued growth throughout Metro Detroit and surrounding markets.

This individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities while building long-term partnerships with organizations across manufacturing, distribution, logistics, skilled trades, office, and professional services.

The ideal candidate is a true hunter who enjoys opening new doors, building relationships, solving workforce challenges, and creating long-term value for clients. This position plays a critical role in expanding our market presence and helping organizations solve their workforce needs through customized staffing and workforce solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, LinkedIn outreach, email campaigns, and in-person sales calls.

  • Build relationships with HR professionals, Plant Managers, Operations Managers, Safety Managers, Purchasing Managers, and executive leadership.

  • Schedule and conduct client meetings, facility tours, presentations, and workforce consultations.

  • Identify client workforce challenges and develop customized staffing and workforce solutions.

  • Prepare proposals, negotiate service agreements, and close new business opportunities.

  • Coordinate new client onboarding while ensuring a smooth transition to the recruiting and operations teams.

  • Serve as the voice of the customer by communicating client expectations and market intelligence internally.

  • Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through consistent prospecting and follow-up.

  • Maintain accurate activity, opportunities, and client information within Bullhorn ATS/CRM and other company systems.

  • Collaborate closely with recruiting and operations teams to ensure exceptional client service and successful fulfillment.

  • Represent Diversified Employment Services at networking events, trade associations, career fairs, industry conferences, and community events.

  • Continuously develop knowledge of labor market trends, workforce challenges, and industry best practices.

  • Achieve established sales activity, revenue, and gross profit objectives.

  • Perform other duties that support business development, client relationships, and company growth.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Minimum three (3) years of outside B2B sales, business development, or staffing sales experience preferred.

  • Experience selling into manufacturing, distribution, logistics, industrial, or commercial businesses strongly preferred.

  • Staffing or recruiting industry experience is beneficial but not required.

  • Proven history of prospecting, developing, and closing new business.

  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively present solutions to executives and decision-makers.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CRM software (Bullhorn preferred), Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn, and other business development technologies. Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot is a plus.

  • Reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout assigned territories.

  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screen.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary of

    $50,000–$70,000

    , based on experience

  • Uncapped commission plan with unlimited earning potential. First-year On-Target Earnings (OTE): $90,000–$130,000+, with top performers exceeding that range.
