Partnering with the best

As an Engineering Specialist for Lufkin Power Transmission, you provide technical support to the Field Sales organization, supporting product selection, application engineering, and pricing. You are reviewing customer requirements, designing new gear configurations when needed, and developing proposals that meet LUFKIN and global industry standards. You are collaborating with sales engineering and customers to ensure the right technical and commercial solutions are delivered.

As an Engineering Specialist - Customer Application Engineering, you are being responsible for:

  • Review and analyze the customer application requirements, operating conditions, and, if applicable, job specifications and installation drawings in order to determine the production selection parameters.

  • Identify and select, where possible, an existing unit design which meets the performance requirements, AGMA standards, LUFKIN's standards and all other applicable specifications (such as API, ABS, ISO, DNV, etc.)

  • Design new gear configurations or modify current designs that meet applicable requirements using LUFKIN's gear rating and machine design techniques when there are no suitable existing designs.

  • Generate the cost analysis and pricing for the proposed unit according to LUFKIN's current policy.

  • Generate and transmit the required sales support data, which can include the complete proposal, recommended sales price, preliminary unit outline drawing, unit data sheets, comments and exceptions to customer specifications, rotor arrangement, lube system data, general arrangement drawing, preliminary quality plan and/or testing plan, etc.

  • Assist field sales with the preparation, communication and presentation of the proposal when required.

  • Participate in negotiations with customers and / or channel partners for commercial, legal and technical aspects of offerings, coordinating with various functions as required and appropriate.

  • Provide commercial insight at Deal Reviews including financial analysis, and pricing strategy for both new unit and services.

  • Support handover meetings with Project Management to communicate as-sold pricing, scope of supply, cost assumptions, etc.

  • Laisse with vendors in support of commercial activities.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of cost libraries, proposal deliverables, quoting tools, training aids, etc.

  • Occasionally assist with the training and onboarding of new employees, as needed

  • Other duties, as assigned according to the needs of the business

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you are:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university, plus 2-4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Have experience with computeraided design (CAD) software.

  • Have the ability to travel up to 15% as needed in support of customers or internal meetings.

  • Have effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Have effective computer skills with competence in basic Microsoft Office programs suite.

  • Have the ability to manage change in an evolving/fluid environment.

  • Have the ability to travel up to 15% for customer or internal meetings.
