Job description

Job Summary:  

The Customer Application Engineer role is created to integrate R&D, production, and customer perspectives in the aluminum sector, addressing the disconnect between cutting-edge innovation and practical industry applications. Its primary aim: translate client requirements into actionable product developments. Ultimately, it'll fill that key gap-turning raw feedback into revenue while we push into fresh markets.


Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers to understand their technical needs, provide adequate data, and offer tailored solutions to address their challenges.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to design, develop, and test new products ensuring alignment with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact between customers and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of expectations.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our product portfolio, network with potential customers, and stay updated on market trends.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations, technical documentation, and marketing materials to showcase our products' capabilities.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to ensure customer satisfaction and successful product implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Required Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree in a metals-related discipline preferred.
  • Strongly preferred 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, preferably in application engineering or product development within the metals industry.
  • Required flexibility to travel to customers 50%+ of the time to maintain customer engagement and facilitate technical discussions
  • Strongly preferred proven track record of working with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and sales.
  • Experience in customer prospecting, market research, or business development within the materials sector is preferred.
  • Due to the nature of client meetings and the need for prompt on-site presence, we strongly prefer candidates who are local to or willing to relocate to the central part of the U.S. near a major airport.
