Description
FOH Team Member Curry Up Now, San Mateo
Indian Born, California Raised. We've been slinging halal Indian street food since 2009, when Akash and Rana Kapoor rolled out a single food truck in the Bay. Today we run multiple Bay Area locations, a national franchise system, and a kitchen culture that takes the food seriously and the room not too seriously. We're hiring an FOH Team Member to be the first face our guests see at our San Mateo location.
Compensation
  • Hourly wage: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience
  • Tips: This position participates in a pooled tip program, distributed per company policy. Tips are in addition to the hourly wage and do not offset the minimum wage.

  • Discounted meals at all Curry Up Now locations
  • Paid sick leave in compliance with California and San Mateo law (1 hour earned per 30 hours worked, up to the legal maximum)
  • Commuter benefits

What you'll do
  • Greet every guest like they're the first one through the door that day
  • Take orders, ring them up accurately, and own the cash drawer for your shift (open, close, reconcile)
  • Run food and drinks to tables, bus tables, and reset for the next guest
  • Keep the dining room, restrooms, and entry area clean throughout the shift
  • Answer guest questions about the menu, spice levels, ingredients, and dietary needs (we'll train you on all of it)
  • Handle complaints calmly and loop in a manager when needed
  • Run end-of-day close: cash count, deposit prep, station cleanup, and shift handoff
  • Pitch in on production or expo during rushes when the team needs an extra set of hands
What we're looking for
  • You like people. You can read a room and adjust your energy
  • You can stand and move for the length of a full shift
  • You're comfortable handling cash and a POS system, or you'll learn fast
  • You show up on time, in clean uniform, ready to work
  • Restaurant or retail experience is a plus but not required - we hire for attitude and train the rest
