Job description

TITLE:ย  6th- 12th GRADE CURRICULUM COORDINATOR/SPECIALISTS
QUALIFICATIONS:ย 
1. Possess an elementary and/or secondary teaching credential and a minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experienceย 


2. AA certificate in Administration and Supervision (preferred)
ย 

3. Knowledge of Mississippi College and Career Readiness standards
ย 

4. Knowledge of evaluation and assessment practicesย 
ย 

5. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, school sites, community members, and government agenciesย 
ย 

6. Ability to coordinate a variety of activities at different sitesย 
ย 

7. Ability to provide professional development to staff


SUPERVISES:ย N/A

ย REPORTS TO: Director of Curriculum and Instruction
JOB GOAL:
To provide leadership and coordination in the ongoing development and improvement of the curriculum and instructional program of the districtย  ย 
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 
Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including, but not limited to:ย 
1. Provides leadership to ensure understanding of the educational program objectives of the districtย 
2. Provides leadership to promote the educational program objectives of the districtย 
3. Provides leadership in monitoring students' progress in obtaining academic goals and measured objectivesย 
4. Works with principals and teaching staff to effect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program throughout the districtย 
5. Assists in the development and trends in curriculum and instruction, and furnish leadership in determining program direction and improvements to the curriculum and the instructional programย 
6. Keeps abreast of developments and trends in curriculum and instruction and furnish leadership in determining program direction and improvements to curriculum and instructionย 
7. Serves as a liaison and participates with curriculum leaders at the local, state, and/or national levelย 
8. Communicates the district instructional program to the Board of Trustees, the administration, the staff, and the general publicย 
9. Engages in assigned research related to education programsย 
10. Assists in the collection and interpretation of assessment dataย 
11. Assists in the use of data to inform the instructional processย 
12. Works with the Curriculum and Instruction Department to develop, produce, locate, and deliver professional development programs and opportunities, which are consistent with and supportive of the vision and mission of the district and the enhancement of student learning
13. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
14. Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
15. Performs other duties as assignedย  ย  ย
