Job description

Job Summary:
Performs technical support of all Pharmacy services, which require licensure as a Pharmacy Intern in the State of Indiana. A Pharmacy Intern will need to be able to effectively function within all areas of Pharmacy operations including the development of competencies to interpret and enter Physician orders / prescriptions into computers, accurately utilize Pharmacy automation technology as well as some manual systems to provide optimum drug distribution, safely prepare sterile IV preparations, perform Pharmacy billing / crediting functions, manage drug inventory and distribution, be able to problem solve, communicate effectively and assist the Pharmacist where needed. A Pharmacy Intern will also be responsible for assisting the Pharmacist with monitoring and dosing of medications (as asked by the medical staff), and completing medication reconciliation reviews on newly admitted patients.
Minimum Requirements:
  • The intern must be enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy with at least one year completed.
  • Candidate must obtain Indiana Pharmacy Extern License or Pharmacy Technician in Training permit prior to start date.
  • Pharmacy Extern License must be obtained within 3 months of eligibility date, which is the first day of class of year 3 of the pharmacy curriculum).
  • Must be 18 years of age.
