Job Description Summary
This individual will work with representatives from business, service, industry, education, and government to provide training and technical assistance on a cost-recovery basis. Flexibility in the work schedule is essential. This individual is contracted to teach 38 week/year over 52-week timeframe.
The Trainer - Leadership Development is responsible for delivering engaging and effective training programs focused on leadership, professional development, communication, team building, and workplace effectiveness. This role supports participants in developing leadership competencies through interactive instruction, coaching, facilitation, and hands-on learning experiences. The trainer may work with employees, managers, students, or community members depending on organizational needs.
Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Business/Industry/Community Instruction -- Develop and deliver customized training for various clients and maintain involvement with business/industry/community. Seek and prepare revenue-producing contracts. Produce revenue for 100% cost recovery of position and course expenditures.
  • Learning Facilitation - Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate instructional technologies to maximize student success and multiple delivery methodologies such as hybrid, in-person, virtual, and on-line course delivery.
  • Curriculum Development - Develop and continually revise curriculum and instructional materials that are competency-based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the college policy on level of required documentation.
  • Classroom Management - Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/engagement evaluation. Ensure course materials are available to students.
  • Team Participation - Support the college by engaging in division, department and team activities, and meetings including planning, development, and budgeting, and staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
  • Student Support and Guidance -- Advise and support students as a coach and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
  • Professional Development - Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices, and teaching through professional development activities, networking with regional industry leaders, and the integration of new techniques and technology. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation.

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in related and appropriate field required (ie Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, etc.) (Master's degree preferred), AND
  • Minimum of at least two years of occupational experience in a related field, with at least one of the years being in the past year. 3-5 years occupational experience preferred.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum.
  • Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of, and throughout employment as an instructor. Must also meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job specific licensing standards.

In evaluating candidates for this position, Fox Valley Technical College may consider an exception to the education and experience requirements in the event of emergency staffing situations, pending credentials, specialized expertise or renowned qualifications of candidate, emerging fields, or lack of candidate availability. Exceptions must be approved by the Vice President of Learning/Chief Academic Officer.

Physical Requirements
  • Sitting: This role requires extended periods of sitting while performing tasks and utilizing computer systems.
  • Standing: Ability to stand and present for extended periods of time and to move around the classroom and deliver instruction.
  • Mobility: While some of the work is desk-based, occasional mobility may be necessary for attending meetings, office tours, or events within the workplace.
  • Lifting and Carrying: The role requires occasional/continuous lifting and carrying of light to moderate items (<= 10 lbs).
  • Fine Motor Skills: This role may need precise hand movements or manual dexterity for activities such as writing on a whiteboard, demonstrating experiments, or using instructional technology like computers.
  • Travel: This position does require off-site teaching, fieldwork, or travel for professional development.
  • Driving: Requires a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record check (traveling to different locations is required).
  • Repetitive Motions: Capacity to perform repetitive motions, such as typing, without discomfort or injury.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, candidates, and stakeholders, both in-person and through electronic means.

Additional Information
Pay: $81,300.00 - $95,600.00
Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data.
