Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking a Career Prep Lecturer to help prepare students for success in today's business world. This position within the Woodbury School of Business offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on students' academic and professional development by teaching Business Career Strategies and Introduction to Careers in Business courses. Working closely with the Marketing Department, the selected candidate will engage with students in meaningful ways, helping them build career readiness skills, explore opportunities within business, and confidently transition into the workforce. Candidates with professional hiring or recruitment experience are especially encouraged to apply. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about student success, enjoys mentoring and teaching, and values ethical leadership and community engagement.
Summary of Responsibilities
  • Teaches undergraduate courses in the Marketing Department of the Woodbury School of Business. This position will primarily be one of teaching five classes of MGMT 3890 (Business Career Strategy) and MKTG 1890 (Introduction to Careers in Business) each fall and spring semester. Plans, prepares and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials (i.e., exams, visual aids, course outlines, syllabi, and instruction sheets) as necessary. Instructs, manages and supervises classroom individuals and groups by the following methods: demonstration, discussion, visual aids, lectures, field trips, individualized instruction, online instruction, and other appropriate instructional strategies. Evaluates teaching and learning using written, oral, practical, and performance tests. Maintains a student-oriented approach to education. Recommends students for advancement and graduation. Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability and performance. Makes regular changes and updates to the curriculum based on research and changes in the hiring field.
  • Establishes and maintains office hours and assists department chair, faculty, department staff, and advisers in maintaining an effective program. Serves on committees and attends faculty and other meetings as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Supervises extracurricular activities as assigned.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
The position requires a master's degree in Business or a related field. A minimum of 1-2 years of hiring experience is needed. The selected candidate will begin in August 2026.
Preferred Qualifications:
M.B.A. preferred. 3-5 years of hiring experience is preferred. Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level is preferred.
