Responsibilities
- Maintain design team productivity and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage consultant design services and internal audits of consultant work.
- Lead design progress meetings, track action items, and coordinate with project engineers and stakeholders.
- Coordinate multi-discipline design work to prevent conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions.
- Support oversight of large multi-disciplinary design efforts as needed.
- Finalize and issue bid documents, complete QA/QC, and secure required approvals and permits.
- Provide responsive design support during construction, including meetings, site visits, RFIs, submittals, and PACCs.
- Support preparation of technical materials for Design-Build solicitation documents and Basis of Design.
- Oversee technical design teamwork, including expedited reviews of submissions, shop drawings, and RFIs.
- Coordinate technical design workflows to ensure timely processing of submittals and RFIs for assigned project areas.
- Develop and finalize project scope, schedule, and design-services budget; lead technical project delivery to meet approved parameters.
- Ensure technical delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 15+ years of roadway design experience
- Proven experience managing FDOT PD&E projects
- Strong knowledge of NEPA processes and FDOT PD&E requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., MicroStation/OpenRoads, ProjectWise)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
- Experience coordinating public involvement programs and environmental documentation
- Familiarity with FDOT ETDM process and permitting requirements
- Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
- Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.
