Responsibilities


  • Maintain design team productivity and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage consultant design services and internal audits of consultant work.
  • Lead design progress meetings, track action items, and coordinate with project engineers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline design work to prevent conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions.
  • Support oversight of large multi-disciplinary design efforts as needed.
  • Finalize and issue bid documents, complete QA/QC, and secure required approvals and permits.
  • Provide responsive design support during construction, including meetings, site visits, RFIs, submittals, and PACCs.
  • Support preparation of technical materials for Design-Build solicitation documents and Basis of Design.
  • Oversee technical design teamwork, including expedited reviews of submissions, shop drawings, and RFIs.
  • Coordinate technical design workflows to ensure timely processing of submittals and RFIs for assigned project areas.
  • Develop and finalize project scope, schedule, and design-services budget; lead technical project delivery to meet approved parameters.
  • Ensure technical delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget.


Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum of 15+ years of roadway design experience
  • Proven experience managing FDOT PD&E projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEPA processes and FDOT PD&E requirements
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., MicroStation/OpenRoads, ProjectWise)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
  • Experience coordinating public involvement programs and environmental documentation
  • Familiarity with FDOT ETDM process and permitting requirements
  • Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
  • Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.
