Job description

Description
The Licensing Specialist coordinates, obtains, and maintains business licensing for all Publix locations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local business licensing requirements.
Responsibilities include:
  • researching and obtaining business licenses, permits and registrations for Publix locations
  • maintaining and renewing expiring business licenses, permits and registrations
  • communicating with Publix store management, state and local governments and law enforcement officials
  • project managing and providing status updates to management on the various licenses (business tax receipts, occupational license, beverage licenses, etc).
  • performing various additional licensing related tasks necessary to comply with federal, state and local regulatory requirements.

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks' pay.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting or another analytical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3 years experience in an analytical field
  • Knowledge of licensing research methods - including internet research, review of ordinances and statutes and contact with state, county and city regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle large volumes of work at accurately including good time management skills
  • Ability to plan and organize projects to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Ability to complete tasks independently and with little supervision
  • Ability to work with others and coordinate their work on license renewals
  • Exhibit professionalism and the ability to deal with confidential subject matter

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting or another analytical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 4 years' experience in an analytical field
  • Notary and/or Paralegal Studies Certification
  • Knowledge of various federal, state, and local licensing requirements
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Research skills including the ability to interpret and comprehend legal documents, state and federal statues, and local ordinances
  • Advanced knowledge of Publix systems, including SAP, Adobe, License HQ and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access) applications
