Job Description

Analyzes credit data to estimate degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to firms or individuals; assumes Manager's responsibilities in the absence of the Credit Analysis Manager by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests on complex commercial credit relationships of $2,500,000 and greater.
  • Keep up to date with the company's lending protocols.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines for projects in a high-pressure work environment, with varying degrees of supervision and a working knowledge of accounting principles and financial techniques
  • Research skills
  • Strong problem-solving, mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with computers and computer software, like programs that aid in statistical and financial calculations
  • Proficiency with financial reports and statements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies in data
  • Impeccable understanding of financial statements, ratios, and concepts
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, be a team player and have a strong work ethic.
  • Performs loan reviews/annual reviews on selected borrowers and guarantors for commercial credit relationships of $2,500,000 and greater.
  • Performs cash flows, financial credit analysis, collateral valuations, global cash flows, etc. for commercial borrowers and guarantors on credit relationships of $2,500,000 and greater.
  • Accompanies relationship managers on customer calls and site visits of potential and existing customers as requested / needed.
  • Performs ongoing file maintenance to ensure credit information is uploaded to the credit file in a timely basis as needed.
  • Identifies policy, collateral, and missing document exceptions.
  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses of the relationship.
  • Researches and summarizes industry information for potential and existing customers.
  • Runs credit bureaus and background checks for potential and existing commercial customers and guarantors to evaluate for potential credit worthiness and/or fraud.
  • Spreads financial statements and tax returns for potential and existing commercial customers and guarantors.
  • Assists relationship managers in structuring credits, assessing covenants and monitoring procedures.
  • Responsible for training and development of new relationship managers on the credit analysis process.
  • Responsible for training, development, and mentoring of new credit analysts and the CDP analyst on the credit analysis underwriting and processes.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises employees of the Credit Analysis Department in manager's absence, principally in remote markets. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance in conjunction with management; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

A.) from four-year college or university, Accounting or Finance degree preferred; five to eight years credit analysis experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
