Credentialing Intern information

What does a credentialing intern do?

A Credentialing Intern assists with the process of verifying and maintaining the qualifications of healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses. Their tasks typically include gathering documentation, reviewing applications, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. They may also help with data entry, tracking credentials' expiration dates, and communicating with applicants or licensing boards. This role provides valuable experience in healthcare administration and regulatory compliance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a credentialing intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Credentialing Intern, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with administrative processes, often supported by coursework or experience in healthcare administration or a related field. Experience with credentialing software, document management systems, and databases is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities help you interact effectively with providers and ensure timely completion of credentialing tasks. These skills are crucial for maintaining compliance, reducing errors, and supporting smooth operations in healthcare organizations.

What is the difference between Credentialing Intern vs Credentialing Coordinator?

AspectCredentialing InternCredentialing Coordinator

Work EnvironmentInternship setting, learning-focused, entry-levelOffice-based, administrative, and compliance-focused
Employer & Industry UsageHospitals, clinics, healthcare organizationsHealthcare facilities, credentialing firms, insurance companies

The Credentialing Intern role is an entry-level position designed for individuals gaining experience in healthcare credentialing. In contrast, the Credentialing Coordinator is a more experienced role responsible for managing credentialing processes, verifying provider credentials, and ensuring compliance. While interns focus on learning and supporting tasks, coordinators handle the full credentialing cycle, making this a step toward a professional career in healthcare administration.

Job description

Why We Stand Out

Seeking a career-defining opportunity where your leadership, strategic vision, and client expertise are recognized and rewarded? Kaufman Rossin might be just the place for you.

As one of the top accounting firms in the country, our foundation is “people first.” In the words of James Kaufman, “we prioritize our people, their development, and their well-being. Our values are translated into action every day.”

Kaufman Rossin is a privately owned, independent public accounting firm, which means we are not beholden to outside investors or private equity influence. This independence allows us to prioritize long-term client relationships, maintain objectivity in our advisory approach, and make strategic decisions that benefit our people and clients, not external stakeholders. Our structure fosters agility, entrepreneurial thinking, and a collaborative culture where leadership is accessible, and innovation is encouraged.

Celebrated as the Best Place to Work in South Florida over a dozen times, Kaufman Rossin has grown to over 700 employees, with offices spanning the tri-county area, including sister entities Kaufman Rossin Wealth and Kaufman Rossin Alternative Investment Services.

Think you have what it takes?

How You’ll Contribute:

An internship with Kaufman Rossin is an adventure more rewarding than the average internship! Of course, you’ll be integrating your coursework learning with hands-on knowledge and gaining additional credentials to round out your resume – that’s to be expected from any internship. What you may not expect is our culture! At Kaufman Rossin, we work in a people-first environment that nurtures creativity, rewards innovation, and encourages professional growth.

  • You’ll ask us a million questions.
  • You’ll meet the learning goals of each assignment and each term.
  • You’ll share your ideas, suggestions, and opinions with us.
  • You’ll have fun working with us, learning with us, and playing with us.

Our internships are hybrid (two days/week in-office) and structured around your class schedule; education remains the priority! You can dedicate 20 hours/week to 40 hours/week as an intern…we’re flexible! We typically have Spring and Summer internship options. If it goes well, and you’d like to stay on, you can extend your internship or become eligible for long-term hire once you’ve concluded your undergraduate education!
