Through our Community Initiatives team, we bring innovative wellness, educational, social, creative, and volunteer opportunities to older adults throughout Chicagoland, creating pathways for engagement, personal growth, and lifelong connection.
We are seeking a creative, engaging, and relationship-oriented Creative Engagement Facilitator to support meaningful connections and enriching experiences for older adults across our communities and partner sites. In this role, you will lead existing programs while developing innovative and stimulating experiences that inspire creativity, curiosity, and social connection. Programs may include visual arts, discussion-based learning, gardening, aromatherapy, and other creative engagement opportunities designed to support healthy aging and lifelong learning.
This role is ideal for an energetic facilitator, lifelong learner, and creative thinker who thrives in both virtual and in-person environments. Working closely with Community Initiatives staff, community partners, and participants, you will design and deliver engaging experiences that reflect the interests, needs, and diverse backgrounds of older adults throughout Chicagoland. You will have the opportunity to combine program facilitation with program development, helping to shape new experiences that foster connection, creativity, purpose, and well-being.
This is a full-time, hourly hybrid position that combines program facilitation, content development, community engagement, and relationship building. The role includes both virtual and in-person programming and requires regular travel throughout Chicagoland to support community partnerships, program delivery, and participant engagement. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation, or have the ability to arrange alternate reliable transportation, to travel to Mather Headquarters (Evanston, IL) and off-site locations for daily essential job functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conducts approximately 12-15 hours/week creative programming for older adults online and in-person. Programs may include small and large groups of participants. This includes existing Mather programs and programs to be developed.
  • Develops innovative virtual and in-person creative programs for older adults. Works closely with project staff and external partners to assess the program needs and interests of older adults.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years work experience related to presentation/facilitation of creative arts programs
  • 3+ years work experience related to program/content development
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • High level of dedication and personal responsibility
  • Interest in working with older adults from diverse backgrounds

Preferred:
  • Experience working with older adults in an educational, creative arts or wellness setting

The hourly base wage range provided is a good faith estimate of what Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, certifications, years of experience, geographic location, and current market conditions.
