Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
New York Life is seeking an experienced Creative Design Director to lead a growing Brand Creative team responsible for bringing our brand to life through bold ideas, creative thinking, and storytelling. This is a hands-on leadership role for a creative who enjoys developing ideas, shaping campaigns, mentoring talent, and making the work-not simply managing it.
Working with Brand Strategy, Marketing, Research & Insights, and business partners, you'll lead creative development across integrated campaigns, enterprise experiences, sponsorships, executive engagements, field marketing, and the continued evolution of New York Life's visual identity.
The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of experience leading integrated brand creative. They are an accomplished designer and creative leader with a portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, integrated campaign development, and visual storytelling. They thrive leading a small, collaborative team while remaining deeply involved in the creative process and are motivated to help grow New York Life's Brand Creative function over time.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead creative development for integrated campaigns, sponsorships, field marketing, executive engagements, internal events, and experiential activations across digital, video, environmental, and branded experiences.
  • Develop and direct creative across digital, video, experiential, presentations, and branded communications.
  • Lead and mentor a growing Brand Creative team while fostering a culture of collaboration and creative excellence.
  • Guide the continued evolution and application of New York Life's visual identity across the enterprise.
  • Lead creative development for brand architecture, value proposition narratives, visual identities, and other foundational brand assets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and agency partners to extend creative concepts across channels and experiences.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with Brand Strategy, Marketing, Research & Insights, and business partners to bring integrated ideas to life.
  • Present work, guide feedback, and champion ideas from concept to execution.
  • Balance leadership and hands-on creative work while managing multiple priorities with exceptional quality and attention to detail.

Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in creative direction, brand design, or integrated creative leadership.
  • Experience developing brand communications for financial services, wealth management, insurance, healthcare, or another complex, relationship-driven category.
  • Experience leading creative teams as an active, hands-on contributor.
  • A portfolio demonstrating the ability to translate brand strategy into compelling creative across campaigns, sponsorships, experiential activations, digital experiences, executive engagements, and enterprise initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of visual identity systems and their application across enterprise organizations.
  • Experience collaborating with strategists, marketers, researchers, writers, designers, business partners, and external agencies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Naturally curious and self-motivated, with a genuine desire to build expertise in financial services, New York Life's brand, planning philosophy, and the evolving needs of clients and advisors.

Salary Range: $160,000-$228,500

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
