How much do corporate security jobs pay per hour?
What is the difference between Corporate Security vs Security Guard?
| Aspect | Corporate Security | Security Guard |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Security certifications, sometimes specialized training | Basic security training, sometimes licensing |
| Work Environment | Office buildings, corporate campuses, events | Retail stores, malls, private properties |
| Employer & Industry | Corporations, large organizations | Private security companies, retail, hospitality |
| Job Focus | Preventing theft, ensuring safety, access control | Monitoring premises, patrolling, crowd control |
Corporate Security professionals focus on safeguarding company assets, employees, and information within corporate environments, often requiring specialized certifications. Security Guards typically provide on-site security at various locations, focusing on patrols and access control. While both roles aim to ensure safety, Corporate Security involves more strategic planning and often higher-level responsibilities compared to the more operational role of Security Guards.

- Conduct and maintain a National Facility Security Baseline Assessment covering all company facilities, capturing existing controls, risk levels, and prioritized recommendations.
- Develop and manage a tiered facility security classification system to guide minimum control requirements, assessment frequency, and capital investment prioritization.
- Provide enterprise governance and centralized oversight of the enterprise Physical Access Control System (PACS) strategy, including credential standards, access level matrices, approval workflows, and lifecycle governance.
- Coordinate sameday access deactivation with Human Resources for employee separations and monitor for postdeactivation credential activity.
- Establish and oversee access anomaly monitoring and investigation processes, including failed access attempts, outofscope access, and afterhours activity in restricted areas.
- Provide enterprise governance and centralized oversight of an enterprise camera and video surveillance program, including leveraging video surveillance capabilities, system standards, coverage requirements, retention policies, and system health monitoring.
- Provide enterprise governance and centralized oversight of the documented handling and chain of custody procedures for video exports and investigative use.
- Manage security vendors through vetting, contracting, performance review, and financial oversight.
- Serve as the enterprise conduit for all contracted security services, including site security, event security, and executive protection engagements.
- Conduct documented risk assessments for contracted security deployments, define scope, and ensure fiduciary discipline
- Maintain working knowledge of executive protection methodologies, certifications, and best practices to evaluate provider qualifications, readiness, and performance.
- Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies across priority facility locations.
- Coordinate facility registration, walkthroughs, and preincident planning with law enforcement for priority sites.
- Monitor relevant threat intelligence sources and translate applicable information into actionable security advisories and leadership briefings.
- Support aviation and security compliance requirements, including Department of War (DOW) Commercial Airlift Review Board (CARB) security expectations.
- Assist in preparation, documentation, and readiness for DOW CARB security surveys and related assessments.
- Ensure physical security program elements support compliance with applicable regulatory and contractual obligations.
- Serve as a supplementary Emergency Manager in planning, preparedness, response, and recovery activities under Emergency Management
- Participate in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations as assigned, supporting incident management under the Incident Command System (ICS) and or as outlined in the company Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
