Job description

Job Description
The Senior Executive Protection Specialist position is a senior member of the team, responsible for supporting and executing Executive Protection Program requirements. Provides advanced protective services to designated principals with responsibility for complex advances, travel coordination, and acting-in-charge when designated. Develops and executes protection plans and acts as tactical lead for advances, travel, and events. The position supports training, quality assurance of training and operations, and equipment readiness. Mentors specialists and maintains high readiness and professionalism.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Conduct venue and route advances and develop contingency plans
  • Develop campus/near-campus operations plans
  • Provide close protection and secure movements for principals and family as directed
  • Coordinate with hotels, venues, event staff, and carriers
  • Maintain logs, shift reports, and incident documentation
  • Inspect and maintain medical equipment, communications, and vehicles
  • Support residential and workplace security measures
  • Participate in training, drills, and skills sustainment
    This position is hybrid, individual must live within driving distance to Mayo Clinic campus

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and six years' experience in executive protection or related field OR Master's degree and three years' experience in executive protection or related fields.

Requirements
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Graduate of an accredited law enforcement academy with a minimum of five years of experience as a law enforcement or security officer, or graduate of an executive security professional course with equivalent experience.
  • Have or complete: Mayo Clinic Security Academy, Stop the Bleed Training, Firearms Qualifications, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / AED Certification, Defensive Driving and Safety Certification (or equivalent experience), AVADE Level 2 (Self-Defense), Level 3 (Control Techniques), and Handcuffing Certification, Threat Assessment Training Certification (or equivalent experience), Behavior Detection Certification (or equivalent experience), ASIS Essentials of Executive Protection Certificate within 90 days of hire.
  • Have and maintain a level of physical, cognitive, and psychological readiness that supports the safe and effective performance of protective duties, capable of performing essential job functions that may include prolonged standing and walking, rapid movement, lifting and carrying equipment, operating vehicles under varying conditions, responding to medical or security emergencies, and making sound, timely decisions under stress. A fitness for duty evaluation will be conducted when reasonable concerns regarding a specialist's physical or psychological ability to perform essential functions. Continued employment in an executive protection role is contingent upon the specialist's ability to meet these requirements consistently and reliably.
  • Must have the ability to independently manage a varied workload of complex assignments with multiple priorities
  • Valid driver license with clean motor vehicle record.
  • Have or obtain Minnesota Permit to Carry within 90 days of hire.

Ability to travel 50 percent and work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred.
  • Be eligible to carry a firearm under Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004 (LEOSA), as amended and codified at 18 U.S.C. § 926C.
  • EMT-B or higher
  • Prior healthcare or private corporate executive protection experience
  • Competencies: customer service and executive-facing demeanor, attention to detail and situational awareness, professional bearing and confidentiality, medical first response, radio communications and discipline, travel logistics and problem solving, teamwork and mentoring of junior specialists, international experience
