Job Description:

The Coordinator of Fund Development for the school district plays a vital role in establishing and managing comprehensive donation and sponsorship programs, with a particular focus on activities, athletics, facilities, scholarships and academic enrichment. This position is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to secure private funding through individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and naming rights opportunities. The Donations Coordinator will develop and maintain relationships with donors, businesses, and community partners while ensuring all sponsorship agreements align with district policies and educational values. This position requires strong relationship-building skills, marketing expertise, and experience in development and sponsorship management.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Development and Strategy:


  • Design and implement a comprehensive development strategy for the district's activities, athletic programs, and facilities
  • Create policies and procedures for naming rights opportunities and sponsorship programs
  • Develop sponsorship packages and pricing structures for various activities/athletic facilities and programs
  • Establish donation guidelines and recognition programs for individual and corporate donors


2. Relationship Management and Cultivation:

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential corporate sponsors, local businesses, and individual donors
  • Create and maintain a database of current and prospective donors and sponsors
  • Develop and implement stewardship programs to maintain ongoing relationships with donors
  • Coordinate with school principals, activities directors, and coaches to identify sponsorship opportunities

3. Sponsorship and Agreement Management:

  • Draft and negotiate sponsorship agreements and naming rights contracts
  • Ensure all agreements comply with district policies, state regulations, and educational values
  • Monitor and fulfill sponsorship deliverables and recognition commitments
  • Maintain accurate records of all sponsorship agreements and their terms
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on contract review and compliance

4. Marketing and Communications:

  • Create marketing materials and presentations for potential sponsors and donors
  • Develop recognition programs and signage plans for corporate sponsors and donors
  • Coordinate with the district's communications team on donor recognition and sponsorship announcements
  • Maintain sponsorship presence on district website and other promotional materials

5. Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Track all sponsorship revenue and donation income
  • Prepare regular reports on development activities and outcomes
  • Monitor budget and expenses related to sponsorship programs
  • Develop annual revenue projections and growth strategies
  • Present updates to school board and district leadership on program progress


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in development, corporate sponsorship, or activities/athletic program management
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts or corporate sponsorships
  • Strong understanding of marketing, branding, and sponsorship activation
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with contract development and management
  • Proficient in CRM software
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of educational and activities/athletic program operations preferred
  • Understanding of legal and ethical considerations in educational fundraising
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for activities and athletic events and donor meetings
  • Passion for education and activities/athletics with a commitment to the district's mission and values
