Job description

About Hike Medical
Hike Medical is a health tech company tackling musculoskeletal (MSK) health from the ground up-starting with the feet. We combine proprietary AI and deep-learning technology with clinical expertise to deliver custom 3D-printed insoles built from a simple at-home foot scan. In about five minutes, anyone can scan their feet from home, and our technology converts that scan into a custom orthotic that is 3D printed in Illinois and shipped directly to them. We partner with employers and health systems to make personalized foot care accessible, helping people move better and live pain-free.
As we scale, we are building out a finance function that can keep pace with rapid growth. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants ownership, visibility with leadership, and the chance to help shape the financial backbone of a mission-driven company.
The Role
We are looking for an Assistant Controller / Finance Manager to serve as the right hand to our finance lead and own day-to-day accounting operations. You will manage the close process, strengthen our controls and reporting, and partner across the business on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This is a hands-on role with significant room to grow as the
company and finance team expand.
What You'll Do
  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and support management reporting packages for leadership and investors.
  • Manage core accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general ledger integrity.
  • Build, document, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and scalable processes that support a growing business.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, partnering with department leaders to track spend and inform decisions.
  • Coordinate the annual audit and tax filings, serving as a key point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Oversee cash management, including reconciliations, treasury reporting, and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Help select, implement, and optimize accounting and finance systems as we scale.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions.

What We're Looking For
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally combining public accounting and in-house/industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA (or active candidacy) strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the full-cycle close process.
  • Experience owning or heavily contributing to month-end close, financial reporting, and

reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner cross-functionally with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and rolling up your sleeves.

Nice to Have
  • Experience at a startup, health-tech, manufacturing, or D2C/e-commerce company.
  • Exposure to inventory or cost accounting in a physical-product business.
  • Experience implementing or upgrading ERP and finance systems.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year, plus equity.
Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and overall fit. In addition to base
salary and equity, Hike Medical offers a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at a fast-growing, mission-driven company.
How to Apply
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief note about why you're excited about Hike Medical.
