Job Description

Purpose:

The Contract Specialist provides primary assistance for administrative actions related to contract management.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as initial contact for receipt of contracts and tracks contracts throughout completion.

  • Responsible for logging contracts in departmental database; providing initial response to client; working with the Director and Assistant Director on assignment of contracts; tracking status of pending contract negotiations.

  • Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, special reports, and other documents.

  • Produces weekly/monthly/quarterly activity reports.

  • Provides various administrative and logistical support.

  • Assists in the coordination of department activities/initiatives.

  • Assists in the maintenance and development of department databases.

  • Works with sponsors to establish TEES in sponsor's vendor systems.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

What Is Helpful:

  • Sponsored Research/Contract Management background.

  • Working knowledge of Maestro ERP System, AggieBuy, and Concur.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.

The Contracts team is a dedicated team of professionals charged with facilitating cutting-edge research by leveraging contracting expertise, industry insights, and close coordination with other Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) and Texas A&M University System to execute agreements that further TEES' overall mission while mitigating risks.
