Job description

Job Description:
Controls ATE Programmer I with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Through Hole technology boards. Your main scope will be to take information provided by our Design Engineers to test each component on the board individually and in combination circuits. As a Controls ATE Programmer I, you will become an expert in writing, testing and maintaining the test programs on all new test equipment.
The Controls ATE Programmer I will be able to assist in the debugging of all aspect of software development to dialing in the software from manual to automation modes.
Some of the other functions of the Controls ATE Programmer I will include but are not limited to understanding operation of JUKI surface mount pick and place, printing machines, programming Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment, Reflow Oven profiling and equipment maintenance. This position requires excellent troubleshooting skills with Surface Mount equipment and through hole boards, ensuring little to no downtime.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Generates tolerance and measuring percentage programs for SMT and Through hole boards on the ATE equipment.
  • Creates and/or modifies component profiles for SMT and AOI equipment.
  • Creates and maintains SMT Test assembly folders.
  • Generates inspection programs for AOI machines.
  • Maintains stencil inventory.
  • Provides technical support to machine operators.
  • Supports effort to meet goals with Production Operators, Engineers, Design and Management.
  • Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
  • Trains Test technicians and Controls ATE Programmer I's to operate and run the systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessary to meet business conditions or changes.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical degree/certificate preferred.
  • 5- years of experience electronic testing troubleshooting and repair, basic programming knowledge, maintaining bench test equipment, and troubleshooting Surface Mount equipment.
  • History Testing trouble shooting and repair as a Test Technician of SMT and Thru Hole is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of IPC-A-610 workmanship standards.
  • Good communication skills; both verbally and in writing.
  • VIVA Programming software experience is a bonus.
  • AOI Programming is a plus.
  • Must be able to read and understand Bill of Materials, Assembly drawings.
  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Capable of manufacturing assembly fixtures from instructions.
  • Familiar with MS Office.
  • Experience ERP systems is helpful.

Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 30lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods during shift.
  • Required to wear proper personal protective equipment including safety glasses, masks, steel-toed boots, and any other PPE as needed for the task.
  • This position is designated as a safety-sensitive job and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, mouse, and telephone.
