Description

We are currently looking for an experienced full-time Pastry Chef. Primary duties for this position will be dessert design, preparation, and plating in a fast-paced environment. We are open 7 days a week serving lunch and dinner. Candidates need to be friendly, hardworking, team players, and flexible.

Pay rate:
  • $30-35 per hour plus a percentage of service charge

Requirements:
  • Ability to create recipes for new desserts.
  • Minimum 3 years experience leading a team.
  • Bread making and chocolate work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of costing and ordering inventory preferred.
  • Ability to work long days when necessary, based on Company needs.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Knowledge of and ability to consistently prepare all food recipes and sub-recipes as instructed by the Executive Chef and/or General Manager.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with all levels of employees in both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
  • Ability to expedite tickets accurately and timely, and read/understand the kitchen monitors or printed tickets, behind the cooks' line.
  • A basic understanding of proper cooling and storing practices per health department rules and regulations.
  • Ability to follow directions in a fast-paced environment; manage time effectively, and work well in a team environment.
  • Must have at all times during employment, a valid Washington State Health Card and any other government-required cards.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and a passion for progress in this career.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares dessert orders for guests using prescribed recipes and standards.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including kitchen walk-in coolers and storage room, and upholds the Washington State Department of Health standards.
  • Conceptualizes and executes all dessert items; prepares baked and cold goods as needed.
  • Communicates any problems or situations detrimental to property to the Manager on Duty.
  • When applicable, interacts with guests in a manner that makes them feel comfortable and welcome.
  • Decorates and presents pastries, baked goods, and other desserts in a tasteful way.
  • Works with a sense of urgency to meet guests' demands in a timely fashion.
  • Uses the equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to cookware, dishwashing machines, kitchen monitors, kitchen printers, and POS terminals.
  • Develops new seasonal recipes in alignment with savory menus and industry trends.
  • Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the company.

Physical demands and work environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
