HSE Specialist - Facilities
Location: Abbeville, LA

Job Summary
The HSE Coordinator supports operations and organizational initiatives to include but not limited to the development, implementation, and compliance with aspects of ACI, Regulatory and Client Management System requirements, reporting to the Director of HSE. Provide HSE leadership and oversight for all Acadian Contractors, Inc. Business Units and Project Teams. Focus will be given to directing, coordinating and supporting HSE Specialists in the execution of HSE programs, advancing HSE culture, Management Systems (MS) implementation assessments, coaching/advising, Auditing, Corrective Action verification, and performance expectations to drive world-class HSE performance.

Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of construction, operations, fabrication, gas distribution, pipeline, marine operations, process piping & systems; OSHA 501 - Construction (1910, 1915, & 1926) .
  • Thorough understanding of overall process-based Safety Management Systems (BBS, JSA, SWA, PTW, etc.), and applicable regulatory and industrial best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of Risk Assessment, Incident Investigations/Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective Action development, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, and demonstrate the ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to handle simultaneous assignments with frequent interruptions and deliver proven results.
  • Internal & External Auditing of Management Systems (MS) knowledge.
  • SEMS regulation knowledge, MS Audits, and Corrective Action process experience.
  • Applicable industry-recognized certification(s); e.g. CHST, OHST, STS - i.e. BCSP.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate implementation of proactive safety processes (JSA, Time Out & TEAM BBS Observations) to achieve an incident-free workplace and advance our safety culture.
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management System policies, procedures, best practices, and client-specific site policies.
  • Make a personal commitment and be accountable for HSE results, supporting team members through coaching and mentoring to achieve goals.
  • Accept coaching and demonstrate ownership and improvement of HSE processes based on feedback and ongoing mentorship.

Operations & Project Support
  • Operational & Project support of ACI Business Units. Engage Project Teams and Operations to ensure understanding of SOW so that Coordination of all HSE Specialists (Business Unit assigned and/or Contract HSE Specialist) have adequate coverage.
  • Champion the TEAM BBS and JSA QA&C process, extracting KPI's / reports, distributing to HSE management, trending and actions with reviews and discussions of the trends.
  • Utilize data research gathered to target risk trends and coach accordingly.
  • Provide team and one-on-one coaching with employees to address at risk behaviors, risk tolerance and raise awareness of unsafe working conditions. Ensure that all coaching being done is healthy, respectful, and professional to build a healthy attitude.
  • Respond to incidents and become a driving factor in incident investigations, reports, and corrective actions.
  • Create Safety Alerts to bring attention to topics after reviewing BBS Trends, JSA QA&C, and incident investigations.
  • Management Systems Support of implementation to advance processes performance, best practices, HSE culture and risk controls.
  • Participate in internal auditing and/or site visit assessments at all ACI work locations (facility, land, offshore) based on the needs of the company.
  • Support Corrective Action Program, and HSE Specialist in the CAP Verification of effectiveness.
