We are seeking a Senior level Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) professional to join the Honeywell Freeport team. This individual will be a member of the Honeywell Sensing Solutions (HSS) HSE Leadership Team, responsible for driving HSE continuous improvement, compliance, and engagement at the HSS Freeport facility. 

The role reports to the HSS/IMC Sr. Director HSE and has 2-4 direct/indirect reports.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in HSE engineering, environmental science, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in HSE Engineering
  • 6+ years of leadership and direct team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and strategic planning abilities.

The annual base salary range for this position is <$162k - $180k>. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) strategies that align with organizational objectives, the Honeywell HSE Management System, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices while fostering a culture of safety, health, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the deployment and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System, driving the organization's HSE vision and mission through operational excellence, Lean/HMX principles, and risk-based decision-making.
  • Partner with executive leadership and site management to achieve HSE goals and objectives by integrating safety into business operations and promoting accountability at all levels.
  • Reduce organizational risk by conducting self-assessments, audits, Gemba walks, regulatory and third-party inspections, and risk assessments to identify gaps, implement corrective actions, and drive sustainable improvements.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams of HSE professionals, including engineers, specialists, and support staff, while promoting collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, permits, certifications, and corporate standards by monitoring evolving regulations and implementing best practices.
  • Develop and implement proactive safety programs, policies, behavioral and cultural initiatives, and training programs that prevent incidents, reduce occupational risks, and strengthen employee engagement.
  • Establish engineering controls and preventive measures to mitigate workplace hazards through comprehensive risk assessments, safety audits, and continuous process improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response and business continuity plans for workplace incidents and environmental emergencies.
  • Manage HSE budgets, allocate resources effectively, and identify cost-efficient solutions that maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and environmental performance.
  • Promote environmental sustainability by implementing environmentally responsible practices, reducing operational impacts, and supporting corporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain HSE performance metrics, quality standards, inspections, and performance assessments to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, regulatory agencies, customers, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication, training, and execution of HSE initiatives across the organization.
